SEPTEMBER COUNSELING FOCUS!
This month, our RES Counselor, Mrs. Britt, is visiting all classrooms to teach lessons about our character trait and mindset of the month.
Students will learn about respect and think about how everyone can learn in different ways!
SEPTEMBER KINDNESS CALENDAR
Let’s kick off the new school year with our
September Kindness Calendar for Students!
In addition to our monthly character trait and mindset, our RES students, families and staff will continue to practice acts of kindness all year long. CLICK HERE to view and print the kindness calendar for September. Paper copies of the kindness calendar were sent home the week of September 5th.
Students: For every kindness task our students complete, they will check it off their calendars. Students may return their calendar to their homeroom teacher, or to Mrs. Britt, on October 2nd, 2023
Students with 20 or more completed tasks will join Mrs. Britt in a kindness activity during lunch!
MINDFULNESS TIP
4-7-8 breath
The primary intent of this exercise is to calm the nervous system in times of stress. A mindful moment is presented through the experience of breathing.
Start by sitting or lying down. Place the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth right behind your teeth. Push all the existing air out of your lungs before beginning.
Breath quietly in through your nose for a count of 4
Hold your breath for a count of 7
Breath forcefully out of your mouth (with the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth) for a count of 8 while making a “whooshing” sound
Repeat for 4 breath cycles
The speed of the exercise does not matter as long as you keep the tempo steady.
