Picture retakes will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd, from 9:30-10:30 am in the community room. Any student who missed picture day earlier this fall or who would like to retake their picture should plan to have their picture taken then. You may order pictures here.

Students who are interested in staying for clubs or activities, or who need to stay for Block E Academic Support, may stay any day they would like to stay and take the Compass activity bus at 4:45, which will take them to the elementary school closest to their home. To register for the activity bus on a day-by-day basis, students may sign up any Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday during lunch in the community room or they may sign up ahead of time each week by clicking the link here.

Students in the Non-Fiction Reading seminar, an interdisciplinary science and English course, were excited to learn about filmmaking from Mr. Bjorn Amundsen, an award-winning cinematographer and Compass parent. For their quarter-long project, students in this course are creating documentaries to spread awareness about a current science-related event or scientific issue of interest. Topics students are addressing include the effects of climate change on coral reefs, other habitable planets in the galaxy, how controlled burns can help protect communities from mega-fires, chronic wasting disease, and lab-grown meat, among others. They will be showcasing their documentaries at the Compass Academy Film Festival in May.

Students in the Creating Children's Literature seminar, who worked with Early Childhood students to get inspiration for a character and story earlier this year, visited EC classrooms to read the children's books they wrote and illustrated to their EC buddies. EC students then received their own printed and bound copies of the books to keep.

Compass Academy students pre-order their lunch, so if your student plans to order lunch, please have them complete the form that is linked above. Students are always welcome to bring food from home, if they prefer. If your student may qualify for free or reduced lunch, please complete this form or have them get a paper copy of the form from the Compass office.
