The Resilience of the Cherry Blossom Tree
Happy 4th Week of School Dealey Community!
"Just like a cherry blossom, life is short and sweet, and every moment is precious." — Anonymous
I am amazed by the resilience of the cherry blossom tree. In or out of season, we are all left to marvel of it's resilience during any storm. Dealey students, staff and community are also very resilient. This week will be our fourth week of school.
We are working very hard to infuse montessori mindfulness in every corner of our campus. Many of the elements of a Montessori education naturally promote mindfulness. Some of those elements include quality of active, open attention on the present moment, accompanied by a non-judgmental attitude. In both montessori and mindfulness practices, attention to the present is the key element.
As we continue to honor the here and now, let us all appreciate every moment we have together as a great school community. The most balanced and resilient human is the one who is not living in the past nor overly focused on the future. They are firmly planted in today.
We are Breathing Fires of Excellence!

Dealey Garden News-Updates
Parent Garden Volunteers Needed for Each PreK - 5th Grade Classroom -
Parent Gardening Volunteers work with their child's PreK/K or Lower Elementary teacher to determine a mutually convenient time to take students out to the garden each week during school hours. The time commitment for the Parent Gardening Volunteers is typically 60 - 90 minutes per gardening session and the role can be shared between several parents in one classroom. 4th and 5th Grade Students participate in gardening through a weekly Gardening Period during their Specials Time (12:50-1:35PM). Ms. Olobia oversees the class and depends on the assistance of Parent Gardening Volunteers to make gardening a great experience for the students. We are planning to begin gardening with the students the week of September 9. If you are interested in serving as a Parent Gardening Volunteer or learning more about this volunteer role, please contact Andrea Montillo (andreamontillo@gmail.com) or Lilian Webb (lillian6@gmail.com).
