Mariner Family,
I love our school do you love our school!
"Let’s Share Our Gifts"
Mariner Family,
As parents and people we are all leaders, and every day we are gifted the perfect opportunity to inspire those around us. Here is one of my many attempts to inspire others.
Our gifts are meant to be shared and used to benefit others; essentially, that the purpose of receiving a gift is to give it away to others in service and love.
As we work through the school year, let’s not forget to seek out inspiration from one another. Be open to the energy around you—be inspired, fill your inspiration cup, and, in turn, inspire others. This cycle of giving and receiving is what keeps us moving forward as a community.
It’s our turn.
We’ve all experienced that feeling of waiting for our turn—whether it was permission to stay up late for the first time, driving the family car, or stepping into adulthood by making big decisions like going off to college. When it’s finally your turn, you feel it. You understand the weight and responsibility that comes with it. “This is my moment,” you think. And when that moment arrives, you don’t want to miss it.
Our ancestors made their choices, and they took their turns. Now, it’s our time—our turn to make choices that matter for ourselves, for our children, and for each other. Every day, we’re faced with countless decisions, and yes, it can be overwhelming. But what if, instead of feeling immobilized by these options, we leaned in? What if we committed to grow, to act, and to rise to the challenge, making something extraordinary happen?
Imagine what could unfold if we, as a school of parents, chose to inspire one another consistently. What if we fully embraced the potential of time at home , dedicating ourselves to reading with our child every day and providing a time at home where students feel invited to a dedicated family reading time? What if every parent fully committed to reviewing their child’s student growth, reviewing student progress and student data trackers with purpose and passion? What if we all dedicated 40 hours of volunteer time to our child’s classroom/school each school year.
Marianne Williamson reminds us, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.” Who are we not to be brilliant, talented, and fabulous? Each one of us is meant to shine. And when we shine, we unconsciously give others permission to shine alongside us. By embracing our own potential, we set others free to do the same.
As a school community, look at how far we’ve come in such a short time. We’ve made bold choices together. Now, I challenge you to go even further. Don’t be afraid to be great. Don’t be afraid to win. And don’t be afraid to stumble along the way and start again, wiser and more resilient. Lead your child’s education. Guarantee that they will succeed by devoting a set time to read with them each day. Let’s choose to believe in ourselves, in each other, in our children, and in the power of what we can achieve collectively.
It won’t always be easy. But remember—you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be as a parent. It’s your turn now. Don’t miss your moment. Don’t lose your turn. What a wonderful opportunity we have to decide how we will share our gifts as parents and how our parenting and teaching will impact our children and impact our world.
This is your turn to share your gifts with your daughter/son - don’t let it slip by. This is your moment.
Let’s stay the course and continue to grow and change our world together.
Sincerely,
Your dedicated admin team - Assistant Principal, Mrs. Barry, Assistant Principal, Mr. Castro, and Principal, Mr. Candelaria

Inside our ship
Herencia Mariachi Program: We had a strong second week of Mariachi Class! We still have a few spaces available. Tell your parents/students to call our front office and/or See Mr. Candelaria if you would like to join. Students in 2nd grade - 8th grade are eligible. First come first served. Our goal is to fill our mariachi group with 80 students. We are almost there.
Professional development: As a professional learning community, we are dedicated to continuously expanding our knowledge and refining our practices, just as professionals like doctors, dentists, and lawyers do to stay at the forefront of their fields. Our 5th grade team is pictured with Dennis Regus, Administrator, Instructional Services, Riverside County Office of Education, and two of our academic coaches, Coach Markham and Coach Barraza. Throughout the year, we have scheduled time with RCOE’s Dennis Regus, to consistently develop our mathematical knowledge and implement best practices in the classroom, including Thinking Classrooms.
WICOR/AVID: In the pictures below, Look for evidence of writing, inquiry, student thinking, student collaboration, organization and ownership of student learning and reading. And look for the same WICOR evidence during our math professional development opportunities with RCOE’s Dennis Regus, and in our mariachi program as students learn to read music, think, ask questions, process their thinking, make mistakes and try again, as they learn to play their instruments.
