PROPOSED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHANGES
Additional Information
Jana L. Thomson Elementary School (2025)
District’s 19th Elementary School
Located at 1760 Bancroft Drive, Prosper, Texas 75078
This elementary will relieve overcrowding in the Hall and Boyer elementary school attendance zones.
It is proposed that Lakes of Prosper and Villages of Prosper Trail attend Thomson Elementary, approximately 2.3 miles from Lakes of Prosper.
Its westernmost boundary runs along Legacy Drive (excluding Creeks of Legacy) to the district's northern boundary, along the DNT until Prosper Trail. The easternmost boundary is the railroad tracks south until Prosper Trail forms the southern boundary.
Virgie Witt Smothermon Elementary School (2025)
District’s 20th Elementary School
Located at 4600 Lamplights Dr, Prosper, Texas 75078
This elementary will relieve overcrowding in the Christie, Hall, and Bryant elementary school attendance zones.
Smothermon encompasses Edgewood Creek, Mosaic, Creeks of Legacy, and undeveloped land. Its southern boundary meets the Bryant and Hall attendance zones. It is bounded on the east by Thomson Elementary and on the west by Christie Elementary.
Bryant Elementary School
Note: These proposed changes do not affect the boundaries of Windsong Ranch Elementary and Stuber Elementary.
North boundary winds along Parvin Road, down Teel Parkway, and north of Artesia down Prosper Road.
The eastern boundary is north of Artesia and west of Richmond Park Lane and Artesia Blvd.
The southern boundary is the greenbelt between the northern and southern sections of Artesia, across Teel Parkway, and between the northern and southern sections of Windsong Ranch.
Christie Elementary
The northernmost corner of the current Christie Elementary attendance zone–Edgewood Creek–is proposed to be in the Smothermon attendance zone. This change will not impact Sutton Fields.
Hall Elementary
Encompasses Star Trail.
Bounded on the north by Prosper Trail, the east by the DNT, the south by First Street, and the west side of Star Trail.
Boyer Elementary School
It is proposed that Lakes of Prosper and Village at Prosper Trail attend Thomson Elementary, approximately .5 miles closer than Boyer. This will help balance enrollment at Boyer and Light Farms.
North of Prosper Trail, the eastern boundary is Preston Road, the western boundary is the railroad tracks.
North of Frontier Parkway, the western boundary is Avilla Grove eastward to Preston Road.
North of Frontier Parkway, the western boundary is DNT, and the northern boundary is Light Farms Way to Prairie Crossing and then to the railroad track.
Lilyana Elementary School
Lilyana’s westernmost boundary will now be Preston Road. Other boundaries have not changed.
Proposed Middle School Zones with Proposed Elementary Boundaries
Additional Information
Background
In 2016, there were no schools west of the Dallas North Tollway. In Fall 2025, the district will have seven campuses on the western side–seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. This means that in the fastest-growing district in North Texas, the west side is the fastest-growing portion of Prosper ISD.
In addition, on the eastern side of the district, both Boyer Elementary and Light Farms Elementary are stretching their capacities.
Fall 2025 New Campuses
In Fall 2025, the district will open its fourth high school, sixth middle school, and 19th and 20th elementary schools. These additional campuses will provide enrollment relief for multiple campuses and additional capacity for the expected 3,000 students who will move into our district this year.
Fall 2026 New Campuses
In Fall 2026, middle schools 7 and 8 will open, in addition to the new elementary school located behind the existing Rucker Elementary.
What this means today
As our district grows and we excitedly plan for new campuses, we understand that we must also address the challenging but necessary process of adjusting attendance boundaries. We recognize that this can be a sensitive topic for many families, and we want to assure you that we approach this task with great care and consideration.
Opportunities during change
While change can be difficult, we also see this as a unique opportunity for growth and new beginnings. Our students and teachers have the chance to become pioneers, shaping the culture and traditions of our new campuses from day one. Together, we can create vibrant learning communities that embody our cherished motto: Excellence Every Day in Every Way.
We're committed to supporting all our families through this transition, ensuring that every student continues to receive the high-quality education and nurturing environment they deserve, regardless of which campus they attend. Your child's well-being and success remain our top priority as we navigate this period of change and expansion.
We want your Feedback!
Attendance boundary changes are a yearly occurrence in a fast-growth school district. We take great effort to make decisions that impact as few students as possible while effectively addressing the evolving needs of the school community.
- You can submit your feedback through THIS FORM.
