Principal's Message
Good Evening Yowell Families,
This is Mrs. Fiscus with your weekly update. Wow, what an amazing few days back together again! We know there may be some tears as we return tomorrow. Coming in on a Monday after a few days off may bring on the tears from some of our smallest Stallions. We are prepared to welcome and walk them to class as needed. Parents we ask you to either send your child on the bus or have them enter via our curbside process. Parents will not have access to walk students to classes moving forward. We are confident in our routines and support that students can get to class with the support of staff or mentor students. Our building is filled with caring "big" kids who want to be helpers. Parents, you have raised fantastic kids who are still helpers when they are out of your sight. Isn't that every parent's dream, to raise a helper? So trust us tomorrow, if there are tears your child is in good hands and will be tear-free very quickly.
Mrs. Pratt, Mrs. Korona, and Mrs. Dugger are ready to get the musical off to a fantastic start. If you have heard yet, the musical is Aladdin! Students in third through fifth grades are welcome to sign up to be part of the cast.

We are very excited to allow students to physically try the instruments before selecting which one to play! The instrument choices are Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, and Baritone. Classes begin the week of September 16th.
- Tuesdays Before School - 7:30-8:30 am (please arrive at 7:20)
- Director: Mrs. Roach (rroach@ccpsweb.org)
How do I sign up???
You can register for 5th-Grade Band by attending the Instrument Selection Night. Here, you can try the instruments to select the one best suited for you. There will also be information about obtaining your instrument. We recommend that you rent for at least the first few months to ensure it is the right instrument for you.
Instrument Selection Night:
Tuesday, Aug 27th at 6:00 pm at Culpeper Middle School
*Please note that this is the only Instrument Selection Night for 5th-grade band students and the only time they will be able to try the instruments prior to selecting what they will play*

Transportation Information
In an effort to assist schools and parents with current information about bus changes, transportation has added a new item on their website called: Transportation - Morning Update. The direct link can be found here. Also, this is the direct link to transportation.
Parents of students Pre-K through Grade 3 are expected to meet their children at the bus stop. Failure to do so will result in the child(ren) being returned to school. Should you choose to allow your child(ren) to be dropped off without supervision in the afternoon, please fill out and return this document.
We will be posting departure times for buses each day to assist parents with receiving their child from the bus stop. Please check this document each afternoon.
If your student requires transportation assistance, call the Transportation Department at 540-825-5446 or email them at transportation@ccpsweb.org
School Resource Officer (SRO)
We are happy to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) this year at Yowell. You can contact Deputy Brandon Mack with any concerns you have with school safety or anything that would be related to criminal activity.
