From Your Principals
Ms. Benningfield, Lower Campus (PK - 3)
Ms. Munves, Upper Campus (4 - 8)
Last week I spent a lot of time in classrooms and was so inspired by the teaching and learning happening. Ms. Pablo and I observed rich student-to-student conversations, a focus on student writing and justifying academic thinking, and teachers using concrete objects to bring learning to life. Over the next few weeks, your students will prepare for a Spring common assessment which will closely mirrror the assessment environment and expectations on the STAAR test. To support your learner at home, try asking the following questions in conversation or as you support your student with at-home assignments.
What makes you think ...?
- How do you know....?
- Have you considered any other way to think about...?
- How can you prove your thinking there...?
What evidence could you use to support this idea?
As always, thank you for supporting your student at home and for allowing them to engage in a productive-struggle as they learn to talk about and justify their ideas.
