Next Week is Red Ribbon Week:
Oct. 28-31 Red Ribbon Week (No School on Friday, Nov. 1st)
Red Ribbon Week is this coming week! Check out the daily Red Ribbon Week themes attached above. We've also provided some helpful tips for our Dress as a Book Character Day below.
Monday begins our annual celebration of Red Ribbon Week. Each year, usually during the last full week in October, BCISD schools and communities across America celebrate Red Ribbon Week. Many years ago, Special Agent Camarena gave his life trying to stop the spread of drugs. People wear red to remember his hard work in the fight against drugs and continue to help Americans make healthy, good choices. Your child will receive a "I pledge to be drug free" bracelet for this occasion.
This celebration gives our students and families an opportunity to focus on healthy living and to learn about the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, especially to young growing bodies and minds. Every day our students are confronted with choices from the moment they wake up until they go to bed at night. Some choices are easy, but others can be tough. Some choices may seem unimportant at the time, but even small choices can end up affecting lives forever. Please take this opportunity to talk with your child about the importance of making healthy choices today and everyday!
Upcoming Book Costume Dress & Parade
RJ is excited to celebrate with our students with a school-wide costume parade on Tuesday, October 31st @ 8:15AM, weather permitting.
Our parade will begin at 8:15 and all students will line up with their homeroom classes and parade through the campus front circle of the school for a costume parade.
- Parents are invited to attend the parade by lining our front circle drive as each student and class will walk through.
- All parent vehicles should be parked in a designated parking space to attend the event and parents will line the circle drive in designated places to cheer on their student in costume.
- *Please see Costume Guidelines in flyer coming home in take-home folders and pictured here.
October is Fentanyl Poisoning Awareness Month according to Texas Government Code 662.116. Below are resources developed to share with families to increase awareness on the growing dangers of fentanyl.

Attendance Statistics and Information:
Did you Know? Attendance Edition:
The more you know: the critical role that regular attendance plays in your child's academic success.
Consistent attendance not only helps students grasp the material being taught but also fosters a sense of belonging and community within the classroom. Each day brings new opportunities for learning, collaboration, and personal growth. When students miss school, they miss out on valuable interactions with teachers and peers, which can impact their understanding and engagement.
Research shows that students with higher attendance rates tend to perform better academically. Being present helps them stay on track with assignments and builds important study habits that will benefit them throughout their educational journey.
We understand that circumstances can arise that may prevent attendance. However, we encourage you to prioritize school attendance whenever possible. If your child is facing challenges that affect their ability to attend regularly, please reach out to us. We are here to support you and your student.
Thank you for your commitment to your child’s education. Together, we can help them achieve their fullest potential!
