Our first full week of school was a success!

• We held our first fire drill with the alarm this week - and all students did a fantastic job following our evacuation drill procedures!
• Pre K friends went on a "bear hunt" and had lots of fun on their adventure outside!
• Ms Roy's 3rd grade class received their first post card in the "Great Mail Race"!
• The playground is under construction for a few upgrades - and we are all very excited to watch the process!

Park Avenue is hiring for the following positions:

* Tutors (School day hours, 5 days a week, hourly pay)

We are in NEED of filling these two open positions - and they can be flexible if that works better for your schedule! Please call to discuss these openings in our school if you have any questions.

These positions are roughly paid for 30 hours a week, and receive hourly pay. If you are interested, please reach out to Stephanie Marris @ 333-6657.

Safety is our first priority. This is why we have high expectations for student behaviors. It is why we train to evacuate and we train for intruders. Every staff member has multiple ways to access administration and are capable of making emergency calls as needed.

• All the doors are locked all the time, external and internal

• There are hard wired phones in each room

• Cameras that are observed

• Secure front entrance

• Badged staff

• Practice safety measured

• We do not have unannounced visitors

• Staff have multiple communication devices to contact others for immediate assistance

September is the launch for the Hannaford Fight Hunger Bag Program! Starting September 1st and for the entire month of September, when you purchase a $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger Bag at the Hannaford located at Spring Street in Auburn, $1 is donated to the Park Avenue PTO!

Our goal is to sell 200 bags, equivalent to $200 raised for our school community! We are confident that with the help of our dedicated supporters, we can reach this goal.

We strongly encourage you to share this news with family and friends as well!

The Fight Hunger Bags are located on displays around the store and at the checkout. For more information about the program, please visit hannaford.bags4mycause.com.

• Girls on the Run is an after-school empowerment program designed for 3rd to 5th graders.

• Miss Camuso and Miss Quinn are leading this after school program for our students, which starts this week! Students will build leadership skills, team building skills, and work on their fitness as they work towards the final 5k!

• Stay tuned for updates!

**In response to delays at arrival and dismissal, including a high number of families dropping off and picking up students, we will continue to assess and adjust our plans, as necessary, to create the smoothest process possible. We appreciate your patience and support.**

• Students should be entering and exiting the school using assigned doors.

• No students will be allowed in the building prior to 8:00 a.m.

• Dismissal will begin at 2:50 for walkers and early bussers, and 3:00 for Parent Pick Up

Student arrival and dismissal routines are as follows:

Parent Drop-Off for Student Arrival

• Students MAY NOT arrive at school prior to 8:00.

• Student arrival is from 8:00 - 8:25

• All students will be dropped off to the left of the school at the gymnasium entrance.

• Parents: Please follow the guidance of staff and remain in your vehicles at all times.

Parent Pick-Up for Student Dismissal

• All students should be picked up in the side parking lot outside the gymnasium.

• Staff will bring students out to vehicles as parents arrive.

• Parents: Please follow the guidance of staff and remain in your vehicles at all times.

Walker Arrival

• Walkers may arrive between 8:00 - 8:25.

• Walkers will enter through the front main entrance.

Walker Dismissal

• Walkers will be dismissed at 2:55.

• Walkers will be dismissed through the side entrance to the playground.

Bus Arrival

• Buses will arrive between 8:10 - 8:25.

Bus Dismissal

• Bus dismissal will be from 3:00 - 3:30.

Guidance:

• ONLY buses are allowed in the bus circle during the hours of 8:00-3:30.

• If you require a handicapped parking spot, please access the designated spaces in the side parking lot.

• Please remain in your vehicles at all times. If you must exit your vehicle, please be sure you are in a designated parking spot.

Breakfast and Lunch continue to remain FREE for all students.

We will continue to focus on health and wellness and follow the Student Wellness Policy (NEPN/NSBA Code: JL). We kindly ask that any food brought in for celebrations and birthdays follow the USDA Smart Snack Standards. Please save cupcakes and other sweet snacks for out of school parties.
