Hello NES Families,

Happy Monday! I want to start by saying THANK YOU to our "Families for Nooksack" PTO and all of our amazing families who brought items for our Staff Appreciation Week. Our staff is very grateful and well fed! We appreciate it very much.

NVSD Bilingual Family Night is Wednesday, 5/15 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Middle School for all Spanish-speaking families. ¡Esperamos verte!

We also hope families will join us for the Fun Run on Friday! Please see details below. And if you'd like to volunteer, let your child's teacher know. It's a pretty fantastic community event.

Families are welcome to attend the Fun Run this year to cheer us on!

• 12:30-1:30: Grades TK, K, 1, 2
• 2:00-3:00: Grades 3, 4, 5
• Please sign in at the front office when you arrive.
• If you take a student home with you after, you must sign out.
• If you are not taking a student home, you do not need to sign out.

Thank you for helping your student collect sponsors for the Fun Run this year. All money will go toward field trips and enrichment for students.

A few details:

• Our school goal is 1,500 laps!
• If we meet it, students will get to vote on a staff member to be pied in the face at an up-coming assembly.
• Top lap runners and fundraisers will also be recognized.
• ALL students will earn a ticket for every 2 laps and they can use their ticket at the PTO store for some prizes!

Thank you for attending our Morning with Moms/VIPs last Friday. What a meaningful start to the day. Donuts with Dudes is coming up on Friday, June 7th, same time (8:00am). See you there!

The viruses in March took many of us out, but we are resilient! Almost to 80% attendance rate in April. Let's get all our kids to school in May. We appreciate you!

Our Music Performances will be starting in February. Mark your calendars! All concerts will take place in the NES gym.

• Grades 2 and 3: Wednesday, February 21st from 2:00-2:40pm - Done.
  

• Grades 4 and 5: Tuesday, March 26th from 2:00-2:40pm - Done
• Grades Kinder, TK, and 1: Tuesday, May 21st from 2:00-2:40pm
• 5th grade will also perform at the “Moving On” Ceremony on the last day of school.
• All concerts will be about 30 minutes long.

If you have a child, or know of a child, who will be starting Kindergarten in the fall of 2024, please complete the online enrollment registration. Children must be five years of age by August 31, 2024 to enroll.

• Click on the ENROLLMENT tab.
• If you are a new family to the district, click here: NEW STUDENT ONLINE ENROLLMENT
• If you currently have other students in the district, click here: SKYWARD FAMILY ACCESS
• o Once you are logged into SKYWARD, select “New Student Enrollment” under the house button.

SUN BUCKS are coming this Summer!

In the summer of 2024, Washington State will launch Summer EBT, “SUN Bucks”, a new grocery benefit program that provides families $120 for each ELIGIBLE school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out. This benefit will be on an EBT card and mailed to the address on file with the school district (Make sure you address with us is current).

ELIGIBILITY:

• Children who live in a household that already receives assistance program benefits (SNAP, TANF, FDPIR), OR
• Child attends a school that operates the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program, AND
• Is directly certified for free and reduced-price school meals, OR
• Submits a qualifying Family Income Survey (FIS) by MAY 30TH: Available at all NV School main offices or you can print a copy from our Food Service webpage

All NV students have access to meals at no cost during the school day, but only students who qualify for free/ reduced meal status will receive the SUN BUCKS benefit.

A message alerting you to your CURRENT MEAL STATUS ELIGIBILITY has been sent to your Skyward Message Inbox.

More information will be coming from Washington State in the coming months.

Elementary ASB cards are once again available to purchase at the school office for $11.00. The cards provide entrance to all Nooksack Valley High School home sporting events.

Please take a look at our Nooksack Elementary Family Handbook. It is available in English and Spanish below. A handbook is a tool that helps describe how we do things around here... we love our school! You can see our current staff for next year and answers to other questions you may have.
