Sinaloa Weekly Update March 17 2024
HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!
Good Evening All Sinaloa Families,
Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of our families that celebrate this holiday. We are very proud of our Boys and Girls Volleyball teams and how hard they played and how well they represented Sinaloa. The girls A team was undefeated and took first place. The boys A team did very well and took 2nd place. Thank you Coach Miller and Coach Hooper for your time and dedication. It was a great season everyone. We also want to congratulate our Concert Band and our Choir for their amazing performances at SSHS this week. Our students have so many talents both in sports and in the arts. Finally, we want to congratulate Nataly Ruiz for being awarded the the Rotary Club of Simi Valley Student of the Year Award for Sinaloa Middle School. This award recognizes service, leadership and sacrifice.
We only have 5 days until our Spring Break. All SVUSD schools will be closed from Mon. 3/25/24 - 4/ 2/24. Please enjoy this time off with you families and friends. For those families that celebrate Holy Week and Easter, we hope that you have a sacred Holy Week and a joyous Easter morning.
Third Quarter Grades will be visible on Aeries on Thursday 3/21/24.
NEW FENCES & GATES - Our fences and gates are in place and we will be implementing our new procedures with certain gates open at different times of the day. The pedestrian gate by the fire road will not be opened during drop off to encourage parents to drive all the way down to the locker hallway so we can get more cars off of Royal Ave. and into our parking lot. Once the school day starts all of the gates except those by the stairs will be closed and locked. At the end of the day all pedestrian gates will be opened to allow our students to be dismissed in a timely manner.
The back gate off of 4th Street has remained closed for safety reasons. Our area behind the gym is in a high water table and the track and field are still swampy. We are asking all of our students to go to the bike lane at the front of the school and use that to get to that pick up area.

This is our last week before Spring Break so let's have a great week. As we get closer to spring we will start ramping up for the Physical Fitness test for our 7th graders and the CAASPP testing for all of our students. Our teachers will start practicing the interim tests with their students to help students feel comfortable when they take the CAASPP tests. We encourage all of our students to participate in these tests to be prepared for the future standardized test they will be required to take to get into colleges or even to qualify for certain careers.
