FORGE is a FREE Before & After School Program that offers our students a combination of enrichment activities and academic interventions. Our goal is to provide quality, fun before and after school programming in an in-person setting. As this is the fifth and last year of the grant, this will be our last session of FORGE at Bateman (Summer Camp will still be happening!). We welcome any families or organizations to be part of our sustainability efforts to find different funding sources to have the school self - sustaining programs, as required by the Illinois State Board of Education.
The Spring Programs application will be available from
Wednesday, January 8th - January 14th at 9:30am
Application and Placement: Students will be prioritized in programming based on availability and interest. Students with low or modest incomes will be prioritized. Please note that application does not guarantee placement. If there is not enough space, there is a possibility that you will be added to a waitlist. Program descriptions are shared below!
The exception to this is Blaze Battle of the Books as that will continue the week following Winter Break due to their competition in March. The majority of our programs are 15 weeks and take place before and after school hours.
In order to secure funding for future programming, we must ensure that student attendance is as high as possible. Therefore, student attendance is mandatory! Students with more than three unexcused absences per session may be dropped from the program to provide an opportunity for another student. If your student must be absent, please inform the instructor

Attention 3rd & 4th Grade Girls!
Girls on the Run is SO MUCH FUN!
Get your sparkle fingers ready! Girls on the Run has fun, evidence-based programs that inspire participants to recognize their inner strength, increase their level of physical activity, imagine their possibilities, and confidently stand up for themselves and others! Our GOTR Team at Bateman meets twice per week. Each "practice" includes a powerful lesson on topics such as self-esteem, navigating friendships, and more! Accompanying each lesson, runners will build their stamina as they work towards the culminating event of a full 5K Race in Grant Park! This year's 5K is scheduled tentatively for Saturday, May 10th.
