Some thoughts for the starting school year
Keep Up with What's Going on at the Hill!
Hi Bulldog Families,
This week in New Jersey is when all schools recognize the Week of Respect. Students will engage in activities to help promote community, tolerance, respect and taking a stand against bullying. It is appreciated if families can find time this week to ask their students how they are supporting one another in school. You can find our lists of activities in this newsletter below.
GCIT will be holding an information session for our 8th grade BHMS students Tuesday, October 15th during 1st period. Any interested students should fill out the following Google form by Thursday, October 10th. https://forms.gle/hnN5uWiTnp1DnG8T9
Students who request to attend will receive a pass in their homeroom the morning of October 15th. Any questions can be directed to Jenny Kerfoot, 8th grade school counselor. jkerfoot@wtps.org
Lastly, GO PHILLIES!
Sincerely,
Ms. Egizi

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! - Ernest E. Gallego
America was at war in the summer of 1943 when Ernest Gallego graduated from high school. He tried to enlist but had to wait until he turned 18 that November for the Army Air Force to take him. His ambition was to be a pilot but he failed the depth perception test and chose gunnery school because it offered him a faster track to an assignment overseas. From their base in Italy, he and his crew flew more missions than they originally thought would earn them rotation back to the States, because the brass increased the magic number. After V-E Day, Gallego was on a ship headed home, expecting to fly more missions, when he heard the news of the Japanese surrender.
