2024-2025 Classroom Placement

The process for determining class placement occurs throughout the spring and summer, with final decisions shared with families as a part of fall registration in August. Many factors go into this complicated and time-consuming process, because great care is taken to establish class rosters that support the unique needs of all learners. As part of this process, we are open to parents/guardians sharing student-centered details about their child. This could include insight on their academic, social, and/or emotional learning, and any unique needs or concerns you want us to consider.

If you so choose, please send an email or written note to the appropriate principal by Friday, March 1st, 2024:

  • All incoming Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Graders: email CEPS Principal Greg Nelson @ nelsong1@mcfsd.org

  • All incoming 3rd Graders: email WIS Principal Corey Shefchik @ shefchc@mcfsd.org


Please be mindful of the following details:

  • It is important to note that we cannot accommodate your requests to place your child with a specific teacher or peer(s), but rather, the input you might choose to provide about themselves as learners is most helpful.

  • If you sent a placement message last year, we ask that you send a new message every year because we do not review previous years’ files as part of the process.

  • For best consideration, you must send your message by the deadline of 3/1/24. In previous years, we have received many requests from families well into the late spring and summer, and it becomes increasingly challenging to consider that input further into the process we get.

  • Incoming 3rd graders: Please be aware that Waubesa Intermediate School uses a partner teacher model where students have two teachers. One of the teachers serves as the homeroom teacher who is the primary contact teacher. One of the teachers teaches Math, Science and Social Studies and the other teaches Reading, Writing, and Word Study.

**Part 1: Superhero Training Camp**

9:00 AM - 11:30 AM at McFarland High School

Unleash your inner superhero with over 20 activities for kids and adults!

Obstacle courses, strength challenges, crafts, and more!

$20 includes 1 adult and 1 child; additional heroes welcome for just $3 each!


**Part 2: Big Little Dance**

3:00 PM - Getting Ready with Royalty Package

5:30 PM - 8:30 PM for the dance of the year!

Dress up and dance the night away with family and friends!

High school students will help littles get glam for the evening!

Base Package - $20 for 1 adult and 1 child; extra attendees $5 each.

Getting Ready with Royalty Package - $15 for the perfect pre-dance glam session!
