Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.

March 7, 2025
Between weather and planned closures, we had our first full week of school since winter break! Can you believe it!?!
On a personal note, it was a joy to return to Lutherville. During my 8 school days away, in addition to take a couple of days PTO, I visited 6 different BCPS Elementary Schools across the County and spent two days shadowing leaders in BCPS Central Office. It was great to gain some perspective and get some fresh ideas, but there is no place like home! We thank Ms. Reid for her wonderful service to our school and wish her a wonderful rest of the year at Timber Grove Elementary.
Looking ahead, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:30 to 12:00, the 5th grade will be taking the state science assessment, MISA. We wish our 5th graders all the best and appreciate their hard work next week!
On the horizon we look forward to Spring Family Night on March 18th! The staff have come up with some super fun ideas around the theme of "Cruising into Spring" that we think families will enjoy. Please see the flyer below. We also have the first Young Entrepreneurs Fair on Sunday March 23rd. More information below.
In Partnership,
Mr. McComb

5th Grade Dance Program
The 5th Grade Dance Program is coming to Lutherville Lab next week (March10-14). A dance instructor will be teaching our students a variety of different dances. The program teaches students about dance forms, their origins, and provides practical experience in social/partner dance.
Every student will get to showcase one piece of artwork.
The Baltimore Ravens and M&T Bank are inviting nominations for their 12th annual Touchdown for Teachers program, which recognizes local teachers who provide outstanding service for their schools and communities. Beginning today, anyone may nominate an outstanding educator via the online application form through Friday, April 4.
Three finalists – including the eventual grand prize winner – will be selected from a panel of community members and school officials, with the assistance of Baltimore Ravens and M&T Bank staff. The finalists will be chosen based on involvement in their school and/or community, their degree of positive impact and a demonstrated commitment to education.
The grand prize winner will receive the following:
· $5,000 in grant funds, payable to his/her school or district
· A classroom visit by a Ravens’ coach or player, accompanied by mascot Poe
The two remaining finalists will each receive $1,000 in grant funds, payable to their school or district. Every nominated educator will receive a certificate of recognition from the Ravens and M&T Bank.
“Touchdown for Teachers honors the dedication and impact of educators who go above and beyond for their students and communities,” said Augie Chiasera, M&T Bank Executive Vice President. “As the son of a former teacher, I know firsthand the profound influence they have. We’re proud to partner with the Baltimore Ravens to celebrate their hard work and commitment.”
To nominate a teacher for Touchdown for Teachers, please complete the online nomination form at www.baltimoreravens.com/teachers by April 4.

Save the Date & Spread the Word
Mark your calendar and spread the word. Please tell friends, family, and neighbors about this special event. Share on social media. Hang up flyers around town. We need shoppers to make this event a success! If you know of a friend or neighbor with a community business/ side gig/etc. who would be a great addition to this event, send them the registration link! We want to support our local innovators too. Non-student tables will pay a $20 registration fee. We are also looking for volunteers, including students in need of service hours. Please go to the registration link to sign up to volunteer.
Potential Benefits, Awards & Prizes
Lastly, if you're curious about the potential benefits, here's a link to a TEDx talk from a Maryland mom who believes cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset helps to raise self-reliant children who have initiative, are resilient, and can be problem solvers -- valuable tools for life. We hope this event helps to create an opportunity to develop these skills for our LL students. And if the experience isn't incentive enough, we will have awards and prizes for participating LL students!
