K-8 MOVIE FIELD TRIP TO SEE "THE WILD ROBOT"
In March of 2024 our completed an initiative in honor of Nevada Reading Week. Our entire school read the same book! Every student received a copy of The Wild Robot and we celebrated reading this book as a whole school utilizing an all school reading calendar, listening to the book on Audible, and completing a variety of grade level appropriate literacy activities. During the summer we learned The Wild Robot was to become a movie! We asked our Bookkeeper, Mrs. Renee Alex, to contact theaters and set up a field trip for approximately 400 students and our entire staff. We secured tickets for the movie, purchased the snack packs for all, and coordinated 8 buses. We invited 60 parents to chaperone and included our own staff of 50. On Wednesday, Sept 25th we took our entire school to the movies! One of our parents drove Roz the Robot over to the theater to greet our students on the way inside. We created “a core memory” for the kids on this day, and even found time to pray before the movie (in gratitude for this incredible opportunity). The true message of this book is a story about what happens when characters choose inclusivity and love. Roz was a robot stranded on an island, and she looked and acted very different from all the other animals. However, the more the animals interacted with her the more she learned from them what it meant to love and help others. And the animals opened their hearts to the possibility that they do not need to be afraid of something that looks and acts differently. Roz brought everyone together! We hope you enjoyed the excitement your children felt as this Nevada Reading Week initiative closed with a private movie screening for 400 of our engaged learners!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DR. KISS!
SVS celebrated our wonderful principal’s birthday! The day was filled with joy and appreciation, highlighting the positive impact Dr. Kiss has on our school community.
We began the day with a special song during Mass, where students, staff and Father Dan joined together in heartfelt harmony. It was a beautiful moment that truly reflected our gratitude.
Throughout the day, personalized cards were delivered with spontaneous birthday songs, filled with warm wishes from students and staff alike. It was lovely to see so many creative messages of appreciation!
Happy Birthday, Dr. Kiss!

OCTOBER PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
Dear Parents,
As we approach our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences, I wanted to take a moment to share why these meetings are such an important aspect of your child’s education, particularly within our Catholic school community. At St. Viator, we believe that education is a collaborative effort between the school, the students, and their families. The partnership we share is essential in fostering not only academic growth but also the spiritual and moral development of each student. Parent-Teacher Conferences offer a unique opportunity to strengthen this partnership and ensure that we are all working together to guide your child’s success in all areas of life.
Here are a few key reasons why these conferences are so important:
Open Communication: The conferences provide a dedicated time for you to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their academic progress, strengths, and areas where they may need additional support. It’s a valuable opportunity to exchange insights and collaborate on how best to help your child thrive.
Personalized Support: Every child is unique, and through these conferences, we can share personalized feedback that is tailored to your child’s needs. This allows us to ensure that their academic and spiritual formation is guided thoughtfully and intentionally.
Reinforcing Faith and Values: In our Catholic school, education goes beyond academics. We strive to nurture the whole child—mind, body, and soul—through the teachings of the Gospel. Parent-Teacher Conferences provide a forum to discuss how we are fostering Christian values in the classroom and how we can work together to reinforce those lessons at home.
Collaborative Problem-Solving: If your child is facing any challenges, whether academic or personal, these conferences allow us to address them early and work together on solutions. It is through this shared commitment that we can ensure your child receives the support they need to grow.
Strengthening Community Bonds: As part of a Catholic school, we are not just an educational institution; we are a faith community. Parent-Teacher Conferences allow us to deepen our relationship with you as partners in your child’s faith journey, working together to cultivate a strong sense of purpose, compassion, and leadership.
We encourage all parents to take advantage of this important opportunity to engage with your child’s teacher. Your active involvement and communication are key to ensuring your child’s success both in school and in life. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns regarding the scheduling of your conference.
