ADMINISTRATION
Jaguar Families,
The school year is definitely in full swing. Football is under way and fall sports are underway. Fall is officially around the corner, and with slightly lower temperatures, it may even start to feel that way. The Paw Print is filled with lots of updates: School Site Council Parent Member elections results, first dance information, first Loved Ones on the Lawn, the differences between the two front offices, and more.
For anyone interested in the School Site Council that wasn't elected, please see an additional opportunity below to participate in the Superintendent's Parent Advisory Committee. Let me know if you're interested.
GO JAGS!!! 💜

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO OFFICES
Did you know that Toby Johnson Middle School has two different offices?
Yes, we do! We have an Administrative Office and a Student Services Office.
How do you know which one to go to? Here’s a quick guide:
Student Services Office
Most of your interactions at Toby Johnson will take place here. This is the office to visit if you need to:
- Pick up students for early dismissals
- Drop them off for late arrivals
- Drop off student items such as Chromebooks, PE clothes, etc.
- Enroll/Disenroll students
- Also home to our school counselors, nurse, social worker, and psychologist
Administrative Office
The Administrative Office is mainly used for disciplinary matters. You should go here if:
- You're picking up a student due to disciplinary reasons
- You're retrieving personal items that have been confiscated, such as cell phones or earbuds
- You lost a small/valuable item and would like to check the Lost and Found
EARLY DISMISSALS FROM PE
- Please allow 15 minutes upon arrival for us to retrieve your student from PE.
- Calling ahead is HIGHLY encouraged.
- We are unable to accommodate early dismissals from PE after 2:30 pm.
WEAR IT WEDNESDAY
Show your school spirit by wearing any Toby shirt or by wearing purple every Wednesday.
Staff and students with 3 or more pieces of Toby or Purple Flair (shirt, lanyard, another accessory) can spin the wheel to win prizes outside MC6 at lunch on Wednesdays.
STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Our August Student of the Month celebration will be on Thursday 9/12. At the event, students will make their own ice cream sundae in a reusable color-change TJMS souvenir cup. We will also have a non-food prize for students who would prefer a non-food prize. Invites and certificates will be passed out to students who receive Student of the Month by their teachers on Tuesday 9/10.
WELCOME DANCE
Our first dance of the year will be Friday 9/13 from 3:00-4:30.
Ticket sales will begin on Monday 9/9 and will end on Thursday 9/12. Tickets will cost $9 or $7 with an ASB sticker. Tickets will be sold at the Student Store window during lunch. Students MUST have their student ID to purchase a ticket and to get into the dance. Ticket sales for this dance and all items sold at the dance (snacks & drinks) will be CASH ONLY! *We have a list of students who were absent on picture day, they will be able to purchase tickets with their schedule. Everyone else must have their ID card. Students who wish to purchase an ID card or ASB sticker should do so this week at lunch as you will not be able to purchase them during dance ticket sales.
MORE DANCE DETAILS
- More than just a dance: There will be games, areas to hang out and chat with friends, music, dancing and more. Plus the student store will be stocked with snacks, drinks, and lots of candy that will be available for purchase.
- Attire: This is a casual afterschool dance. Students should plan to attend in their school clothes. They will not have time to go home and change or to change on campus.
- Entering: At the end of the school day students will exit campus. Students attending the dance will re-enter the back gate onto the blacktop where they will check in by scanning their school ID. Students will not be admitted into the dance late and will not be permitted to leave early. Gates will lock at 3:15 and remain locked until the dance ends at 4:30.
- Bag Check: Student backpacks will be placed in bag check rooms for the entirety of the dance. Upon entering the gate students will receive two wristbands. Once they receive their wristbands they should line up by the color of their wristband. One wristband should be placed on their wrist and the other on their backpack. The students should then place their money in their pockets and all other items in their backpacks. Students will then be led to their bag check room where their belongings will be locked up until the end of the dance.
LOVED ONES ON THE LAWN
Save the Date! We will be hosting our first Loved Ones on the Lawn Lunch on Thursday 9/19. Parents/Guardians are invited to come and join their students at TJMS for lunch Thursday 9/19. We have to verify that Loved Ones on the Lawn are the registered guardians of students. When you arrive please be prepared to show your ID to be verified. Please note that parking is limited so plan ahead and allow extra time before and after. We have two lunch times 8th grade lunch is 11:22 to 11:54 and 7th grade lunch is 12:49 to 1:21. Please do not drop off or have food delivered to students at school.
RALLY
Our Homecoming Rally is scheduled for Wednesday 9/25. Students and staff can look forward to an exciting jam-packed rally to excite students about homecoming spirit week and the parade the following week. We will follow the Rally Bell schedule that day. This rally will feature the Band, Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, Franklin High School Cheer, and Leadership-led games. Show your Toby spirit by dressing in purple or wearing any Toby gear.
PBIS FOCUS
We will continue to teach and reinforce our 4 core values in all locations on campus. We will also be discussing showing kindness at school. Teachers will reward students who are meeting our core values by handing out Jag Swag. Families can continue the conversation at home by asking their child(ren) what our core values are at school and how they relate to your values as a family.
JAG SWAG PULL
This week we will have a Jag Swag Pull for the treat truck. Students who are pulled will receive 1 ticket for themselves and 4 to share with friends. The treat truck's menu is always changing but we always have a variety of ice cream, drinks, snacks, and non-food treats too!
