ALL GRHS STAFF AND STUDENTS MUST BE PROPERLY WEARING A MASK AT ALL TIMES IN THE BUILDING (EVEN IN THE CAFE - UNLESS EATING DURING LUNCH - AND STILL MUST BE SOCIALLY DISTANCED by sitting 4 per table). Students refusing to wear their mask will be sent home.
A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Super Bowl Sunday Longhorns,
February fatigue is real, but with 15 more weeks of school we need to buckle down and SWIM with HEART to make sure we are tight on following the protocols and ALL campus behavior and academic expectations. Lanyards, dress code, and face masks are non negotiable, and just like life there are consequences to NOT choosing to follow the rules.
Good news! If you have lost your CURRENT GRHS PICTURE ID, I will be GIFTING you ONE MORE, after that it's $5 each, or get written up. This ONE TIME opportunity will take place on Monday during advisory/lunches. You must consistently have a CURRENT 20-21 GRHS PICTURE ID visibly worn on the top half of your body. (FYI- TRANSPORTATION TAG does NOT count as an ID, as there is NO PICTURE on there.)ONLY FACE TO FACE students will have an ID, as VIRTUAL STUDENTS are not allowed on campus from 8-4. Being in dress code...is not optional. Finally, this there are only TWO WEEKS left of the 4th six weeks, so if you are missing grades you need to find your FLOW and get caught up! #SWIMWITHHEART
If you are are VIRTUAL student you are NEVER allowed on campus from 8:00-4:00.
If you are picking up or dropping off something you MAY ONLY ENTER THE FRONT OFFICE, but nowhere else. Classrooms and the entire campus is off limits, as you would have to be Covid screened, temp checked, and recorded to ensure we can contact trace your schedule (which takes hours) if/when there is a positive. Please be cognizant and respectful of our procedures, they are in place to ensure that we can still maintain a safe and secure face to face learning option. (The ONLY exception has been when we were PSAT testing, and the virtual students were in a separate gym and entered through a seperate door after they were individually screened.)
Course Selection window for the 2021-2022 School Year is CLOSED (Feb 5th was deadline)

WAHOOOO! GRHS HAS 7 RODEO ART FINALISTS!
GRHS has 7 finalist from the district judging that moved on to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo judging. Congratulations to these amazing artists on their Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo art awards. KUDOS to our GRHS Swim and Coach Fontenot on BOTH BOYS and GIRLS winning back to back district championships! BOTH Girls and BOYS placed at regionals on Friday/Saturday and are NOW headed to STATE! One of our own GRHS rockstar photographers, Senior Olivia Raymond, has given us permission to share her latest swim gallery, check it out in the sports section!
Thanks for all the donations for our "SOUP-ER" BOWL of CARING Canned Food Drive! STUCO will be counting cans on Monday and we will have a number to share! Your kindness and caring is top notch!
Let's keep being smart and stay safe by adhering to the face to face expectations by properly wearing those masks, sanitizing regularly, and following social distancing protocols to the best of our ability. We can't completely control COVID, but we can definitely slow the spread down, and that is A LOT! Any student refusing to follow the rules will be given disciplinary consequences, which will in turn affect their semester exam exemptions. Let's all do our part to keep GR the PLACE to be... especially for those of us CHOOSING to be face to face.
Thank you so much to all our parents and students reaching out to your Assistant Principal for questions and assistance. Please CONTINUE to email your (or your student's) Assistant Principal , as they can assist you the quickest.

2021 GRHS Yearbook Design Below!
Kudos to GRHS Senior, Ignacia Pena Nakouzi, and her design vision being chosen for our 2021 Yearbook!
Here's a little history of the process and how Ignacia's vision became a reality!
Senior, Ignacia Pena Nakouzi, submitted her idea for our cover back in early September. The staff chose her concept in picture #1. We sent that picture to the cover artist and he worked with all of the staff on the idea behind the cover, their thoughts on color, fonts, etc. and produced the cover that you see in the picture above.
Ignacia’s vision was to certainly acknowledge COVID’s impact on us individually and on our school community as a whole, while avoiding the use of images or buzz words as others have. She articulated to the artist that the word “space” is filled with how GR admin, teachers, students, etc. have connected with others through Canvas, Zoom, social media and even with the yearbook itself during the pandemic, as a way of bridging the gap and filling up the “space” between us all.
Way to go Ignacia, we appreciate and applaud your vision! Kudos to Mr. Terrando and the entire Yearbook team for your hard work in making this book a reality!
