Keeping Our School Safe: A Reminder About Food Allergies
What an exciting time of year! With all the holidays coming up and a lot of treats being shared, we want to send a friendly reminder to be mindful of our classmates with food allergies.
Let's work together to keep our school safe and inclusive.
Here are some simple tips to follow:
-
Understand and Respect Food Allergies:
- Food allergies are serious. Please don't joke or tease about them.
- Avoid tricking or pressuring someone to eat something they're allergic to.
- Be a supportive friend and help your classmate manage their allergy.
-
Avoid Food Sharing:
- It's best to avoid sharing food, especially with classmates who have food allergies.
- You never know what ingredients might be in a snack or treat.
-
Practice Good Hygiene:
- Wash your hands after eating to prevent the spread of allergens.
- This simple habit can help keep everyone healthy.
-
Be Informed and Considerate:
- Learn about your friend's allergies and help them avoid triggers.
- Encourage your parents to avoid making lunches or snacks that contain allergens.
- When planning parties or celebrations, consider food allergy-friendly options.
-
Know the Signs of an Allergic Reaction:
- If you see someone experiencing symptoms like vomiting, swelling, difficulty breathing, or skin reactions, seek help from an adult immediately.
By following these guidelines, we can create a safe and welcoming environment for all students. Let's make this a great school year together!

Registration for GEMS 2024 is Now Open!
Hello Families,
The Extended Learning Department and Community Education Program is thrilled to announce that on November 16, 2024, we will be hosting our 4th Annual GEMS Event at Anne Sullivan Elementary for girls in grades K-5 from across the district.
Studies have shown that women make up only 34% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering and math, and men vastly outnumber women majoring in most STEM fields in college. We believe it is imperative that FBISD continues to provide an educational system that will equip all students to pursue futures beyond what they can imagine. By creating a learning environment full of encouragement and confidence building, we are doing our part to empower and inspire our girls to explore their interest in the STEM field.
Through the generosity of our Success Zone vendors, community partners, and collaborative efforts with various departments and campuses, we have successfully served 499 students across FBISD since 2021. By joining forces with our partners: American Robotics Academy, Black Rocket, Building Brains, Inventors & Engineers, Mad Science, Nexplore, and Brentwood Marketing, we are able to create experiences for our students to learn as critical thinkers, compassionate citizens, and life-long learners.
Spots are limited, so be sure to register today: GEMS 2024 Registration Link
