2nd Grade Thanksgiving Day Parade
The 2nd graders in Mrs. Matzen's and Mrs. Lorentzen's classes learned about the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with our Balloons Over Broadway unit. During the unit, the kids learned how the parade began, the changes that have happened over the years, and the creative mind behind the balloons we are familiar with today. The 2nd graders also studied problem/solution, story elements, and sequencing. For the culminating activity, the kids sketched a balloon, created it on the iPad, made their own balloon, and finally participated in their own Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Central Springs Middle School Celebrates Test Results
Iowaโs School Performance Profiles have been released to the public. Central Springs Middle School is โCommendableโ and was .12 points away from being classified as โHigh Performingโ. We are no longer targeted as a school in need of supports! We will analyze the data and look for areas of growth and continue our progress in improving performance. Thank you to the students, teachers, support staff, parents, and the AEA for all the hard work over the past three years that helped the school reach this high level of performance.

E-Learning Days
As the weather begins to turn, we'd like to remind families that the district has the ability to use up to five e-learning days. E-learning days allow students to continue their lessons from home.
An E-Learning day will be announced via JMC. Here are the basic instructions for students and families:
Elementary students:
- Packets were sent home at conferences.
- Students should complete the assigned work on the E-Learning day and return it to school to receive credit for the day.
Intermediate Grades 4-5:
- Packets were sent home during conferences or with the students whose parents did not attend conferences.
- Students complete and return the packet the next school day.
- Teachers will check and respond to student emails throughout the school day.
Middle School Grades 6-8:
- Assignments will be posted in Google Classroom by 9 a.m.
- Teachers available on Google Meet from 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.) should students need assistance. Teachers will check and respond to student emails throughout the school day.
High School students:
- E-Learning assignments, which may include videos, will be posted in Google Classroom by 9:00 a.m.
- On Mondays, assignments will only be posted. However, at an instructor's discretion and with advanced notification provided prior to the canceled school day (Tuesdays through Fridays), students may be required to meet via Zoom or Google Meet during a predetermined 40-minute scheduled class time.
- Faculty hours from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. This time is set aside for students to reach out to faculty members, via email, to ask questions regarding current course content and assignments.
- To receive credit, completed E-Learning assignments must be submitted within two days. Student participation and engagement, as evidenced by assignment completion, will be recorded by each instructor.
Athletics Will Now be Steamed on HUDL TV
Central Springs Panther Fans:
I have some exciting news to share on behalf of the Panther's athletic program. Together with Hudl, we plan to offer a livestream of every home varsity game played in the gym or on our field. We will still have both of our YouTube pages. The new platform will only be used for Athletics.
If you can attend our games, we encourage you to do so. We want to give people who can't physically attend our games the ability to tune in and support Panther's athletics. With our livestream, working parents, faraway family members, alumni, and anyone else who wants to watch can support our athletes.
It is free to use and watch but you can use the following links to sign up for an account. You can click on this link and then create an account. You can also download the app for easy access with your phone. The links below are for anyone that wants more information.

Cheer ๐
CSHS Competition Cheer team competed at state on Saturday, November 2nd in Des Moines. This year the Competition team placed 7th out of 26 other 2A teams. This is a major victory for our team as 2A is the largest classification for the state cheerleading championships. We competed in the division Game Time Spirit, and this year the 2A Game Time Spirit had the most teams competing, compared to any other division and class size, including 3A and 4A. Last year the team placed 11th, so they are only getting better every year! Being at the smaller side of 2A, we compete against other schools that have almost double our enrollment numbers, and some of the schools are ones that we surpassed. The CS Comp Team really put everything they had into their performance and we could not be happier with how well they did. Our turnout at state was incredible as well! So many family and friends came to support. Competition cheerleaders: Kenzie Bass Jordis Waitek Josslyn Deal Emmy Molstad Aubrey Zimmerle Rachel Mason Autumn Hucka Lily Navratil Kaci Nuhring Kilah Ostercamp
