Greetings, La Porte ISD Family. Today is a great day to be a Bulldog!
As we bid farewell to another remarkable school year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm throughout these past months.
Together, we have achieved incredible milestones, fostered a nurturing learning environment, and embraced countless opportunities for growth and development. From academic achievements to extracurricular successes, our collective efforts have truly made this year one to remember.
As we look forward to the well-deserved break ahead, let's carry with us the memories of our accomplishments and the bonds we've formed. Whether you're planning exciting adventures or taking time to recharge, I encourage you to embrace every moment and make the most of this summer.
Superintendent Shout-Outs
- To our graduating seniors, congratulations on reaching this significant milestone. Your perseverance and determination have laid a strong foundation for your future endeavors, and I have no doubt that you will continue to shine brightly in all your pursuits.
- Kudos to our Bulldogs Baseball and Lady Dawgs Softball teams. The post season honors are starting to come in, and our student-athletes are receiving honors for their performances both on and off the field. They continue to make us proud.
- Shout-out to Albert Regis. He's an alum who now stars for the Texas A&M Football Team. Albert took some time this past week to speak to elementary students. I love it when former students come back home and visit our schools!
- Congratulations to Julie Spears and Gary So, who were named the La Porte ISD Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year, respectively. As well, I would like to tip my hat to all campus teachers of the year and our Rookie Teacher of the Year, Farzana Mohammed. This group of teachers exemplifies excellence in education.
- Speaking of our district superlatives, please join me in thanking and giving a mega shout-out to the Rotary Club of La Porte, which provided $6,000 prizes (each) to our District Teachers of the Year. I am so proud to be a member of this group! Such generosity is very rare.
- We also honored numerous retirees this past week, and I want to express my deepest gratitude to every single one of them for many years of service to La Porte ISD. Enjoy the your next chapter!
- Finally, State Senator Mayes Middleton visited Lomax Elementary School this past week and saw the outstanding teaching and learning happening in our classrooms. We are grateful for his visit, friendship and commitment to public education. Thank you also to Board Trustees Jeff Martin and Mason Peres for facilitating the senator's visit.
This is a huge week in our district, with end-of-year parties, graduate walks — and commencement exercises. I encourage everyone to take it all in and help us finish strong. Thank you for all that you do. I hope you have a great week!
With La Porte pride,
Walter Jackson, Ed.D.
