School Starts on Tuesday July 30th! Plan ahead and set your clothes out the night before, go to bed early, put your backpack at the front door, and be sure to eat a healthy breakfast at home or get to school in time for breakfast service starting at 7:30. All students enter through the east gate!

I wanted to share the following information below to help support you on the first day of school:

Regular Day Schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday):

Start Time:

Kindergarten-6th Grade: 8:00

Dismissal Time:

Kindergarten: 11:50

1st-3rd Grades: 2:05

4th-6th Grades: 2:10

Minimum Day Schedule (Every Wednesday):

Start Time:

Kindergarten-6th Grade: 8:00

Dismissal Time:

Kindergarten: 11:50

1st-3rd Grades: 12:35

4th-6th Grades: 12:40

Free breakfast and lunch for all Oakwood Elementary students!

• Breakfast service begins at 7:30 and ends promptly at 7:55.
• If your child will not be eating breakfast at school, please ensure they eat at home. A full stomach will set them up for a successful day.

As a safety reminder, when picking up or dropping off your student, please use our drop-off loop at the east gate (the staff parking lot is not for student drop-off) and pull as far forward as possible when in line with your vehicle. This supports a smooth drop-off and pick-up process.

🚗 Parents should stay in their vehicles during this time, and they should not leave a vehicle unattended at any time. If you need help, wave down a staff member and we will be happy to assist you. Thank you for doing your part to keep our students safe.

Drop-off Locations 🚶🚗

All drop-off locations are labelled at the front of campus and are as follows:

• Preschool: Enter through your designated gate on the west side of campus, staff parking lot gate
• Kindergarten Students: Enter through the east gates off of the kindergarten wing
• 1st - 2nd Grade Students: Enter through the east gates off of the 1st & 2nd grade wing
• Mrs. Myers 1st Grade Class & all other 3rd - 6th Grade Students: Enter through east gates off of the kindergarten wing

If you have needs or support related to what's going on in the classroom, the teacher is always your first point of contact! They should be communicating with you early and often throughout the year.

If you have needs or support related to the school, you are always encouraged to reach out to the office, Mr. Hoffman, or myself. We want to you to know that our door is open, and it is so important to us that we partner with you at home

Starting this year, we will be implementing minimum days every Wednesday. After careful consideration and feedback from our staff, we believe this adjustment will bring several benefits to our students' learning experience. By providing shorter days mid-week, teachers will have more opportunities to collaborate with their grade level teams, analyzing student data to drive instructional decisions. This change will promote greater focus, engagement, and well-being among our students and allow for more opportunities for individualized instruction and student-centered activities.

Oakwood's 2nd Annual Ice Cream Social was a success! Thank you to our students and families that braved the heat and came out to enjoy some ice cream, meet their teachers, find their classrooms, and say hi to their friends! It was so nice to see all the familiar faces and welcome our new families to Oakwood!

And a big thank you to the parents that attended our Annual Parent Title 1 Meeting to learn important information regarding our school funding, and goals for the new school year.

We are excited to announce that this year, families are able to verify their child's elementary school teacher and secondary school class schedule through our online data confirmation process. As of July 19, 2024, parents who have completed the online data confirmation will be able to access this information. We encourage all parents to complete the online data confirmation process by following the instructions in the flyer below.

This important step will allow you to update your child's emergency contact info while also helping to support our school site with additional funding!
