Dear Huffman families,
I am pleased to introduce myself and join the Huffman community as your new principal for the 2021-22 school year! I can't wait to meet all of our students and families and begin a school year that looks a bit more "normal" than last year.
For the last two years, I was the Assistant Principal at Lake Hood Elementary School here in Anchorage. Prior to that, I taught at Girdwood K-8 for 12 years. My family lives in Girdwood and my husband is also a teacher at that school. I have two children, a daughter who just graduated from South, and a son who will be a sophomore at South this year. We enjoy lots of outdoor activities including hiking, biking and skiing, and we are also involved in the soccer community in Anchorage.
As I've been getting to know the staff here, I consistently hear several common themes that make Huffman a great place to learn. Those include a sense of community, high standards and expectations for students, and opportunities to be involved in activities beyond the classroom walls. I love that I can look out the windows of my office and see the Potato Patch, which is a project that highlights many of these themes and goals we have for our students. I am looking forward to leading and supporting this community moving forward as we rebuild after a challenging year due to the pandemic.

Kindergarten or new to district families can also start the pre-enrollment registration process here. If you need assistance or have questions, please call our main office at 742-5650. We have our fantastic School Secretary, Ms. Karrie Loffredo, and our new Administrative Assistant, Ms. Jennie Bostick (you may know her from crossing guard and kindergarten duties) here to help you.
