Message From Our Principal
Welcome to November, Sailor Families!
And just like that, leaves are off the trees and the cold weather is here and the need for finding cold weather gear is needed. We turn back the clocks on Sunday which also is an indicator that preparation is needed for the upcoming season. In Bay Harbor, it’s always sunny and 72 degrees no matter what the outside brings. We are working hard and celebrating achievements along the way! Thank you for continuing to sail along with us!
Fall Fest
Amazing turnout and time had by all! Thank you for your participation and partnership to ensure classroom baskets were full and students were able to attend a fun event. Thank you to Krystal W. for heading this event up and for everyone who was on her team and helped to make it all happen! As our only fundraiser of the year, it is important we have success…and there is no doubt that it exceeded expectations! Way to go, ALL!!! If you want to learn more and be a part of something special at BH, please plan to attend our PTO meeting on Tuesday, November 7th.
Student-led Conferences Survey
Thank you for your support and participation in the recent Student-Led Conferences. We would love to hear about your experience. CLICK HERE for a short survey that will help us inform next steps in our quest for constant improvement. To help supply better feedback, please submit one survey per child. Thank you in advance for your time.
Morning Drop-Off and After School Pick-up
I continue to appreciate how the flow of things go before and after school. One area that we can improve flow is by continuing to utilize the line and only parking and using the crosswalk when absolutely necessary (e.g. needing to go into the office/school to notify office or drop something off, student having a harder start to the morning and wanting to provide more support). We appreciate you.
Attendance
Learning happens best, and the most growth occurs, when kids are in school, so let’s continue to do all we can to create the atmosphere and conditions where being at school is important. With that said, we know kids get sick and to reduce the spread of germs, we appreciate you keeping them home and getting the rest they need. When this happens, please be sure to utilize our attendance line (662-8888). As a reminder, when students miss school for any portion of time due to being at a doctors, please make sure to send that notification at any time. Lastly, if you are going out of town for two or more missed days of school, please just contact the office to submit a pre-excused absence form so everyone is aware. Thank you
PICTURE RETAKE DAY IS TOMORROW!
Reminder that picture retakes are tomorrow, November 2nd.
Retakes are intended for:
- Students who have not yet been photographed
- Students who have been photographed, but parents are opting to have their picture retaken. In this case, parents would have placed a retake order with Harmann Studios, by visiting the link from their original order form that was given on Picture Day.
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER!
Reminder with the cold weather to have your students bring
warm jackets, hats, gloves and mittens!
Attention Parent/Guardians of 2nd, 3rd and 4th Graders!
MySAEBRS Questionnaire
Attention Parents/Guardians of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Graders:
Your student will have another opportunity to increase their awareness of their social and emotional behaviors through completing a social, academic and behavior screener. The screener, mySAEBRS, will ask students a total of 21 questions and will be completed in under 10 minutes. The student’s teacher will also complete a similar screener based on their observations of the students. This optional screener will allow school staff to identify universal and targeted areas for growth focused on students being able to regulate their emotions, develop positive relationships and make positive decisions. This screener is done twice a year.
Feel free to contact Sydnee Milis with any questions or for more information. If you would like to opt your child out of the screening process please complete this opt out form by November 1st.
Bay Port Pops Concert
The Bay Port choral program will present its annual Pops Concert on November 2nd at 7pm in the Bay Port PAC. This year's theme is "And The Winner Is..." and will feature award-winning songs and songs that reached the top of the Billboard charts. The concert will showcase all four of our choirs as well as many soloists and groups. Check out this family friendly event and see what your student has to look forward to at Bay Port!
