DMS Miniboat Update
April 26, 2024
Week 13
Productive, checked many things off the checklist and worked well together.
Hull and Keel team
The team members took a break from their boat tasks, so that the Deck and Tech teams could get some of their tasks completed. Our Crew has quite a few people to thank, so Hull and Keel members wrote thank you cards. Mrs. Eagleton modeled how to address the envelopes.
Sail Team
The team members took their paper replica and transferred the designs onto the sail. The scale they used to make sure the designs will fit on the big sail is good.
Media Team
Connected with each team to record what they are all doing this week. And had a bit of fun with their camera. It's hard to capture them, when they are busy capturing everyone else. 📸
Tech Team
The members threaded the water temperature sensor through the hole in the stern. The sensor is now attached to the sensor box. We will meet in the morning next week to fill the remaining space with spray foam.
Deck Team
Jasper and Kolby started putting their ideas onto the deck of the bow of the boat. They cut the pieces from the paper boat pattern they made to make sure they had everything in the right spots.
Launch Team
The Launch Team offered their help to the Sail Team. They put together 4 thank you bags for the students whose drawings were chosen for the sail. The bags contain lots of DMS swag and a miniature sail boat to build.
Cargo Team
The builders of our sailboat are a company in Maine called Puffin Boat Company. We ordered a decal from them to put into our cargo hold and it arrived this week.
Mrs. Eagleton contacted the town hall to ask about some items from the town. Michelle G. passed a travel mug and a notecard with the town's emblem on it to us.
Ms. Lynch stopped by Dippin' on her way into school and spoke with Donna K. who had a business card for us to put into the hold as well.
