A MESSAGE FROM MS. RILEY
We are so excited to welcome over 1100 students and 170 staff members to the 2024-25 school year on Tuesday! Although the school year hasn't officially begun, it has been wonderful to see so many members of the HVCHS Community at our welcome celebrations, professional development sessions, preseason scrimmages, games, and preview shows. We're looking forward to a fantastic school year with you all!
OPENING DAYS & SCHOOL PHOTOS
- September 3 & 4 will be F days (see bell schedule under "Important Links")
- School pictures will be taken on September 3 and 4 during Wellness Class and Study Hall. These photographs will be used in the 2024-25 yearbook, as well as for future ID badges. Please review the information flyer and order form that is posted in the Virtual Backpack.
- Class Meetings will be held during the school day on September 4.
- Our normal letter day rotation schedule, recitation, and science labs will begin on September 5.
SAFETY & SECURITY UPDATE
In an effort to ensure the safety and security of our staff and students, all visitors will be required to show identification upon entering the building. In addition, any individual who signs a student out of the building must be listed in OnCourse with permission for release, or separate written permission must be provided by a parent or guardian. We appreciate your cooperation with these safety and security measures.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
We're excited to welcome all parents and guardians to Back to School Night on September 12 at 6 p.m. Our teachers are eager to share information about their classes and curriculum with you. In addition, many of our student groups, as well as several community groups (including the HVEF and Municipal Alliance) will be present to share information about their programs. We're looking forward to seeing you at this important event.
HOMECOMING WEEKEND
Homecoming 2024 is scheduled for September 19 through 21, starting with the induction of the 2024 Athletic Hall of Fame honorees on Thursday, followed by our school-wide fall pep rally on Friday and several athletic events on Friday and Saturday, and culminating in a semi-formal Homecoming Dance on Saturday at 7 p.m. at HVCHS.
The Athletic Hall of Fame Induction will take place on September 19 at the Washington Crossing Inn, and will include David Schmutz (Golf, Class of 1997), Katarina Nilsson (Soccer, Class of 2017), Megan Clements (Soccer, Winter Track & Lacrosse, Class of 2010), Michael Markulec (Football & Wrestling, Class of 2014), and 1999 Boys & Girls Cross Country Teams. Please view the invitation and consider attending this wonderful event celebrating HVCHS Athletics!
The HVCHS Student Council is hosting our annual Homecoming Dance at 7 p.m. on September 21. All students are invited to attend this semi-formal, fun-filled event! Students who are planning to attend must complete the mandatory permission slip prior to purchasing a ticket during lunch from September 9 - 13. All tickets must be purchased ahead of time; no tickets will be available at the door.
The Class of 2025 is selling Homecoming tshirts as a fundraiser for the class. If you are interested in pre-ordering a tshirt, please scan the QR code below and complete the pre-order form ASAP.
CLASS OF 2025
Seniors, be sure to make the Senior Sunrise part of your first-day-of-school plans! The Class of 2025 will meet at Ackerson Field at 6:15 a.m. to celebrate the start of senior year by watching the sunrise and enjoying a grab-and-go breakfast. We're looking forward to seeing you there!
The Class of 2025 officers, advisors, class parents, and administration are collaborating to celebrate our seniors throughout the year! Please be sure to check your email regularly for communication from HVCHS and the PTO regarding senior events.
Please review the email sent on July 15 regarding the Senior Privilege form and the Parking Permit form, and feel free to reach out to Mrs. Crognale in the VP Office with any questions or concerns. Seniors must have a valid parking pass visible on their vehicle in order to park on campus.
CLASS OF 2028
We were so happy to welcome the Class of 2028 to HVCHS through our Schedule Walkthrough and Freshman/New Student Celebration events last week! Our Guidance Ambassadors, Leadership Corps members, counselors, case managers, and administrators will continue to provide support for our incoming freshmen throughout the opening days of school. Freshmen who did not receive their HVCHS ID during the celebration on Thursday should pick it up in the Vice Principals Office on Tuesday.
ACADEMIC & PROGRAM INFORMATION
Schedules for the 2024-25 school year were released in OnCourse on August 22. If you have any questions regarding your schedule, please contact your school counselor.
If you were accepted into the Service Learning Pathway, please be sure to review the email sent by Ms. Riley on July 1, and make sure to keep a log of the service hours you have completed over the summer. Check your email during the first week of September for additional information about the plans for the Service Learning Pathway during the 2024-25 school year!
