Principal's Message
Students are 100 and 101 days smarter at AEEC! To celebrate this milestone of surpassing the halfway mark of the school year, students participated in learning activities and dressed up as if they were 100 years old and 101 Dalmatians. They were so dog-gone cute!
We are so excited to share that our Multicultural Fair will take place on February 6, 2025 from 5:15-6:45pm. Our Book Fair will also be open during this event. Bringing communities together will help us learn about different cultures, customs, and traditions. It is our hope and mission to educate and celebrate various international communities while having fun. Each participant will have a table to showcase their family history/country. Participants are encouraged to wear traditional dress, share food, clothing, music, crafts, and more. We have partnered with food trucks so that families may grab dinner before leaving. We look forward to another successful event!
This is the time of year where we look very closely at students who may be considered chronically absent or tardy. Chronic absenteeism is 16 days or more per year, excused and/or unexcused. As much research shows, a large amount of missed days can have a large impact on a child's education in a variety of ways. Thank you for continuing to be mindful of attendance and ensuring your child is present and on time at school unless there is an excused reason per ACS policy. Please arrive by 7:45am daily. Drop off for car line begins at 7:15am. We LOVE spending each day with your child!
As always, thank you for your support and partnership!
Much appreciation,
Glori Lammons

All About Vocabulary
Vocabulary learning is all about the words we need to know to both understand what we hear and read and to communicate clearly and precisely. Vocabulary plays an important part in learning to read. Beginning readers must use the words they hear orally to make sense of the words they see in print. Kids who hear more words spoken at home enter school with better vocabularies. This larger vocabulary pays off exponentially as a child progresses through school. Children learn the meanings of most words indirectly, through everyday experiences with oral and written language. Other words are learned through instruction. Take a moment to explore these sites for ideas on how you can help increase your childās vocabulary!

Counselor News
This February, our school is focusing on COMPASSION as the word of the month! Weāre teaching students the importance of understanding and caring for others. Through classroom lessons, stories, and activities, students will explore how they can show compassion at school, at home, and in their community.
In addition, weāre excited to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness this month! We encourage everyone to look for ways to spread kindness, no matter how small. A simple kind gesture can brighten someoneās day and inspire others to do the same. Letās make February a month full of warmth, care, and connection!
Sincerely,

Nurse News
Welcome to February! As we continue through the winter season, we want to share some important health tips and reminders
1. Cold & Flu Season:
This time of year can bring colds, flu, and other illnesses. Be sure to encourage your child to wash their hands regularly, cover their mouth when they cough or sneeze, and avoid touching their face. If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them at home to help prevent the spread of germs. Remember, a fever-free child should be 24 hours without medication before returning to school.
2. Stay Warm and Cozy:
As the temperatures drop, itās important to make sure your child is dressed warmly for school. Layers are a great idea! Don't forget hats, gloves, and scarves to keep protected from the cold. Be sure their feet are protected, too!
3. Heart Health Awareness:
February is American Heart Month! Itās a great time to talk with your child about healthy habits like eating nutritious foods, staying active, and the importance of a good nightās sleep. Simple heart-healthy activities like walking, stretching, or playing outside can make a big difference.
4. Reminder: Update Emergency Contacts:
If your contact information has changed, please update it in the school office. This helps ensure that we can reach you quickly in case of an emergency.
Please remember a change of cold weather clothes & do NOT send medications in your studentās backpack! Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
With well wishes - Nurse Haley
