Principal's Message
Dear Thurston Elementary Families,
The month of March is already coming to an end following a much needed Spring Break. I hope this gave you a chance to slow down and spend time with your kids, family and friends. These last few months of the school year always seem to fly by. Here are a few things happening in April.
Spring Safety Week: The second week of April is our Spring Safety Week. We will be conducting drills to ensure all students are well-prepared in case of emergencies. This includes Fire Drill, Earthquake Drill, Lockout Drill, and learning about a Lockdown Drill. Remember, the number one rule is always listen to your teacher.
Music Performances: Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to cancel our third and fifth grade music performances that were scheduled before spring break. Since we will also be having our fourth grade and orchestra performance in April, we have made some changes to the schedule to hopefully better accommodate everyone. On April 23rd, we will be having the third and fourth grade music performances. Third grade will be performing at 6:00 and fourth grade will be performing at 7:00. On April 24th, we will be having the fifth grade and Orchestra performances. Orchestra will begin at 6:00 and the fifth grade performance will begin at 6:45.
Looking Forward: Our annual Family Fun Night is scheduled for May 9th. We will be sending out information with opportunities to volunteer, how to purchase tickets, and the lineup for the evening. This event hosted by our TES Parent Group, is our biggest fundraiser of the year and allows us the opportunity to provide materials, events and opportunities to our school community. We will be having a couple “just for fun” assemblies in April and May that are one of the things made possible with these funds.
We look forward to a productive and engaging month ahead, filled with fun, learning and community involvement. Thank you for being a part of our school family!
Warm regards,
Amber Mitchell, Principal

We are already preparing for next year's kindergarteners! Volunteering/Apply through Raptor
Call the office?
Please call the office by 9:30 a.m. to let us know when and why your child will be absent. Also, we try to have consistent after-school plans for each student. If your child's after-school arrangement is different than usual (i.e. being picked up at school rather than riding the bus), please let us know by 2 p.m., so that we can get a message to your child in a timely manner. The office phone number is 541-744-6411.
