Science Connections
This week is Earth Day and it's a great opportunity to recycle your old electronics and sneakers. Please check this list of acceptable items. It's an amazing opportunity to practice sustainability by recycling many things INCLUDING old batteries that should not be disposed of in the trash. In support of this year’s Earth Day 2025 theme, Our Power, Our Planet, we will cover what it means to conserve energy.
Upper Campus
Parking concerns during student pickup and drop-off
Please take time to read the email that was sent out earlier today regarding parking issues during dropoff and pick-up times around Upper Campus.
Band News
Earlier this semester, Caia Lauterbach participated in the Athena Honor Band, hosted by the Athena Music and Leadership Camp, and all-female camp experience. You can view the honor band’s virtual performance by clicking this link. (And check out Caia’s solo at 2:48!)
On Saturday, band students participated in the Georgia Music Educators Association District IV Solo/Ensemble Performance Evaluation. These students prepared solo and small-group performances on their own, with very little guidance from Ms. Bryant-Gerhardt. This gave them the chance to develop important musical problem-solving and leadership skills. At Solo/Ensemble, judges gave each performance comments and ratings, and we are pleased to report that all of GLOBE’s performances earned superior ratings!
Congratulations to the following students on their superior ratings at Solo/Ensemble!
Woodwind Quintet: Samhitha Maddu, Aidan McKeown, Samuel Rivera-Morales, Julia Samalin, Alessandra Stefanini
Clarinet Duet: Blake Anderson, Mateo Espinoza
Low Brass Ensemble: Lila Behravesh, Jacob Burrell, Naomi Lyons, Waylon Naughton
Saxophone Duet: Daniel Hernandez Cordova, Lucky Wills
Percussion Ensemble: Caia Lauterbach, Alani Moore, Bobby Weber
Marimba Solo: Bobby Weber, accompanied by GLOBE graduate Ben Cottrell on piano
Trombone Solo: Lila Behravesh
Saxophone Solo: Lucky Wills
