Our district's theme for this year is "Celebrate Sherwood Schools!" This year-long theme is all about celebrating what is great about our schools, focusing on the achievements of our amazing students -- and on expressing our gratitude to you, our parents and families, for your role in those achievements!

As part of this year-long focus on celebration, each month we will highlight one of the six schools in our district. This month, please join us in celebrating Archer Glen Elementary School!

First opened in 1995, Archer Glen Elementary is home to 323 students and 46 teachers & staff. While it is the smallest of the four elementary schools in the Sherwood School District, there’s nothing small about the energy of this school community -- with programs and activities like Oregon Battle of the Books, Chess Club, the annual Fun Run and more, there’s always something new and fun happening at Archer Glen!

This year, the school kicked off its first ever Kids Heart Challenge, an exciting partnership with the American Heart Association (AHA) to help students and families learn about hands-only CPR and heart health while also fundraising over $5000 to support the work of the AHA. Great job Eagles!

Next week, Archer Glen is excited to welcome its newest students for the 2024-25 school year at Kindergarten Open House on March 7, 4:00-6:00 pm. Families will be given a chance to meet representatives from the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), learn about the on-site after school care option, take a picture in the self-serve photo booth, and do a craft activity together. As you may know, during the ice storm in January several classrooms and common areas at Middleton Elementary were impacted by flood damage due to burst pipes, resulting in grades PreK-2nd being relocated during the repair work needed to restore that area of the building. We want to give a huge thanks to our teams at Ridges and Hawks View Elementaries for hosting Middleton students at their campuses during this time, and also to our Middleton families and staff for their flexibility and patience during the repairs!

We are excited to announce that the repair work will be completed during Spring Break, and our Middleton PreK-2 students will be back in their home classrooms on April 3. To allow teachers time to pack and move their classrooms, there will be no school for Middleton PreK-2nd students on April 1 and 2. Middleton students in grades 3-5 will have school on those dates, and schedules remain as per normal at all other school locations.

It’s time for this year’s Kindergarten Open Houses at our SSD elementary schools! We are excited to welcome our 2024-25 kindergarten students and their families to our buildings to meet teachers, see the campus, and learn more about what to expect next year at school.

SCHEDULE OF OPEN HOUSES:

• Archer Glen - March 7, 4-6pm

• Hawks View - March 7, 4-6pm

• Ridges - March 7, 3:30-6pm

• Middleton - April 4, 3:30-6pm (rescheduled due to building construction)

Beginning in March 2024, the Sherwood School District will provide families with electronic report cards for all students, starting with the report cards for Trimester 2. As we move to this paperless option, report card delivery to all families will default to "paperless-only," and paper report cards will no longer be mailed home.

Additionally, we will be implementing a new platform called ParentSquare to facilitate digital report card delivery. Once grades are finalized, you will receive a secure link by email/text to access your child’s report cards using the ParentSquare website or mobile app. Report cards will also continue to be available through ParentVUE. Please watch for more details on this prior to the end of Trimester 2.

If you would prefer to receive a paper copy of your child’s report card, you can opt out of the electronic-only option in your ParentVUE account. For opt-out instructions, please visit our website at https://sherwood.k12.or.us/electronic-report-cards/ or contact your school office for assistance.
