Hello Las Positas Families!
Happy November! As we move into this season of gratitude, we want to take a moment to thank you for the incredible support and partnership you bring to our school community. We couldn’t do it without you!
This month, we’re excited to share updates and highlights, including special events, and ways we can continue working together to help every student Show Up and Shine Bright! Whether it’s encouraging reading and writing at home, or staying connected, we’re here to support you and make this journey one of success and joy for all.
As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please reach out. Let’s make November a month to remember!
With gratitude,
Mr. Klewer and Mrs. Kim
A Message from Mr. Do, School Counselor
"The Power of Gratitude: Helping Your Child Thrive This Thanksgiving
As Thanksgiving approaches, it's a wonderful time to introduce the practice of gratitude to your child. Studies show that children who regularly express gratitude are more resilient, have stronger social connections, and experience greater overall well-being. Practicing gratitude can help students develop a positive mindset, improve relationships, and increase their capacity for empathy. Here are some simple, family-friendly ways to nurture this valuable habit:
Gratitude Activities to Try Together
- Daily Gratitude Jar: Each day, have family members write down something they’re grateful for and place it in a jar. On Thanksgiving, take time to read the notes together.
- Thankful Notes: Encourage your child to write a note of thanks to a friend, teacher, or family member. It could be a simple "thank you" for something meaningful.
- Gratitude Walk: Take a walk as a family and point out things around you that make you feel grateful, like a sunny sky or beautiful fall leaves.
- Gratitude Sharing at Mealtimes: Take turns sharing one thing you’re thankful for during meals together. This small habit can have a big impact on a child’s appreciation.

Upcoming Learner Profile of the Month by Ms. Riggs, IB Coordinator
November - Be caring!
The Learner Profile Attribute we will focus on for the month of November is Caring.
Caring people demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect. They consider the environment and work to take care of it. They have a commitment to service and action to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around them. Please look for this attribute in your student(s) this month, and find ways to develop this attribute as a family.
