Act 1 Scene 1 "Out Damn'd Spot"
Roman Polanski & Rupert Goold
Comparing
Though both films showed different scenes in different eras, Rupert Goolds' film showed much more emotion during this scene and also made it ten times more dramatic. Yes Roman P. showed the right era of the play, But they other film had better acting and thats what keeps your attention in a movie/play.
First Point
- One difference I noticed between the two versions was that both Lady Macbeths had different feeling of emotion towards the situation. It was significant because one looks scared and regretful there was lots of screaming, and the other looked scared but calm about the situation.
Second Point
- The second difference I noticed between the two versions was the setting of they action. It is significant because you would expect Macbeth to be a knight or have a castle once he is king, not have underground bunker and be at war. But the 1971 film did have their setting right because of the room being old time based.
Third Point
- The third difference I noticed between the two versions was the lighting of the scene. This is significant because thou it was late at night, on the 1971 film alot of candles were still lit. Also on the 2010 film there seemed to be what seemed to be windows, but it was underground but light still shined threw..
