We appreciate being appreciated!
We are so grateful for our King community! Our PTA enlisted our families to treat us like royalty for staff appreciation. There was an amazing treat every day. The sidewalks were filled with awesome pictures and words of encouragement from the Chalk the Walk on Sunday. The lounge was stocked full with a rainbow table of snacks, we were served coffee from a coffee truck, fed breakfast and lunch, crumbl cookies and donuts, provided shoulder massages and given love notes and fun little presents every day! I'm sure I'm forgetting something! Thank you to our PTA and families for making our staff feel so special!
Dress Like a Heart Hero Day at King Elementary - May 16th
In celebration of our success during the Kids Heart Challenge, King Elementary will have a Dress Like Heart Hero Day on Thursday May 16th. All students are invited to dress like any Heart Hero.
Some Heart Hero ideas: Kids Heart Challenge Characters, Medical Professionals, Athletes, Physical Education Teachers, Fitness Enthusiasts, anyone engaged in a heart healthy physical activity (hiking, biking, etc).

Celebrating our King Lions
April is a month filled with lots of opportunities to show what we know. Congratulations to all our students for giving their best effort on district and state tests. Medications and health care plans:
If your student currently has a health care plan and associated medications in the health office this school year you will be receiving a letter via email and backpack for pick up, along with the forms for next school year from the school RN. New permission forms and medical orders are required each school year. If your child is participating in the summer bridge program and has medications/plans please pick up the medication for delivery to the summer bridge school your child will be attending.
Please come to the health room, preferably on the last day of school, May 21, 2024, to pick up your student’s medication. An adult must pick up the medication; we cannot send it home with your student. You will be asked to sign for the medication(s) you are picking up. Any medications left after the last day of school will be discarded. We cannot store medications over the Summer.
Non-Medical Immunization Exemptions and TDAP for 6th grade:
Non-medical immunization exemptions are required to be completed annually no sooner than July 1 for the upcoming school year. Exemption forms can be found on the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment website. Parents should review the exemption process as new requirements went into effect during the 2024-2025 school year.
Colorado law requires students who are entering sixth grade to receive a
tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (Tdap) vaccine before their first day of school. You will be receiving an email from the school RN with the Tdap requirements, as well as a letter in your 5th graders backpack.
The Tdap vaccine can prevent tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis. Tetanus enters the body
through cuts or wounds and cannot be spread from person to person. Diphtheria and pertussis
spread from person to person.
If you have any question please contact our School Nurse, Mrs. Cheryl Witzman cheryl.witzman@d11.org
Speaking of school nurses...
