Heggerty Phonological and Phonemic Awareness Curriculum
Lakeville Area Schools has been implementing the Heggerty Phonological and Phonemic Awareness Curriculum in grades K-1, where students focus on recognizing and manipulating sounds within words. Phonological Awareness encompasses an understanding of words and their components, including aspects such as rhyming, syllables, and overall language awareness. Phonemic Awareness, a subset of Phonological Awareness, specifically involves the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds, known as phonemes, within a word.
Cultivating phonological awareness is a fundamental reading skill
that is crucial for future reading success!
Bridges in Mathematics Curriculum
Lakeville Area Schools adopted a new math curriculum, Bridges in Mathematics, in the 2024-25 school year, starting with grades 4 and 5. This curriculum focuses on helping students develop strong math skills by using models to explain their thinking, solve problems, and discuss ideas. In this video, we’ll highlight a few of the many benefits of Bridges in Mathematics and showcase those benefits in action.

If you need to pick your child up before our end-of-the-day dismissal, we are asking you to do this before 3:30 p.m. Due to heavy volume in the front office, we cannot check out students from 3:30-3:55 p.m due to capacity.
