MSBSD FY26 Preliminary Budgets
The District has developed a budget website that can be accessed here. This website hosts links to flyers, presentations, and other useful information. It also links to the Budget Priority Survey and Balancing Act.
Balancing Act is a tool that allows users to interactively view the District’s Preliminary Budget for the General Fund, see the impact of adjustments to revenues or expenditures, and provide recommendations and comments that will be considered as a balanced budget is developed.
The Budget Priority Survey & Balancing Act will be available through January 31st. All feedback will be submitted to the School Board and will also be presented at the February 19th Board meeting. All school board meetings start at 6 PM and can be attended in person or watched online.

Outside play at -10
At Sherrod, we recognize the importance of fresh air and movement in your student’s day. It is the MSBSD policy that all students will go outside for recess as long as ambient temperature is above -10F.
Unfortunately, several students are going outside in their shoes and complaining that they are wet or feet are cold. Please remind your child to bring all WINTER GEAR every day! Our playground has a good covering of snow, requiring snow boots in order to stay dry. SADLY, CROCS WILL NEED TO STAY HOME FOR NOW.
Students will not be allowed to stay inside from recess unless they have a note from their doctor requiring them to remain indoors.
If you have any questions please contact Nurse
Message from Nurse Laurie Foldenauer
It is against Matanuska Susitna Borough School District policy for a student to carry ANY type of medication on themselves whether it be over the counter (ie. Cough drops, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, etc.) or prescription.
If your child needs to take a medication while at school, please follow the district policies.
Over the Counter Medications: Cough drops, acetaminophen (chewable, liquid, tabs), ibuprofen (chewable, liquid, tabs), Tums, Lactaid, and Benadryl (oral and topical) are kept in stock in my office. At the time of online registration, you would have given/denied permission to administer these medications to your student as needed. You can change this or authorize me to do this throughout the school year. Please do not send any of these medications to school with your student. If there is different OTC medication your student needs to take during the school day, please contact me as some of them may need physician authorization.
Prescription Medications: Please have your doctor fill out a medication administration form. If applicable, they may need to complete an asthma, allergy, or diabetic action plan. These medications cannot be administered at the school unless this is filled out. The forms are available under the MSBSD website under Student Support Services. I also have copies available in my office and can provide them as hard copies or can email/fax them to you or your physician’s office.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Nurse Laurie 761-4103
VIRTUE OF THE WEEK
The virtue this week is FORGIVENESS.
Being forgiving is giving someone another chance after they have done something wrong. Everyone makes mistakes. Instead of revenge, make amends. Forgive yourself too. Instead of feeling hopeless after a mistake decide to act differently, and have faith that you can change.
Each week classes will select a student of the week who has demonstrated the week's virtue. Those students will be part of the morning show and get to announce their name at the end of the morning show on Fridays. Look for their names in next weeks newsletter.
