Classical School's new student application period for the 2025-2026 school year will begin December 2, 2024. Applications will be accepted for the lottery through February 21, 2025. Any applications received after that date will be added to the waiting list (or enrollment list if we still have openings) in the order in which they are received.

Students who are currently attending Classical School do NOT need to reapply; however, siblings who are not currently enrolled at Classical School must submit a completed application during the lottery application acceptance window to be included in and receive sibling priority in the lottery drawing. Incoming kindergarteners for the 2025-2026 school year also need to apply between December 2, 2024 and February 21, 2025 to be included in the lottery drawing.

Paper applications will be available beginning December 2nd in the school office. Alternatively, there will be an online application that may be accessed from the school's website, http://classical.aasd.k12.wi.us beginning on December 2, 2024. It was a great evening to not only work towards meeting our Pegasus goal, but to also celebrate 25 years of rich Classical history. Due to generous support, we were able to reach our goal of $70,000. Thank you to all of those who generously gave toward the Pegasus Project at any point in time, big or small; we would not have gotten this far without you!

The middle school winter Choir Concert will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 6:30 pm in the Classical Forum. Students need to arrive by 6:00 pm to the Choir room.

Student Attire: Please wear your nicest black clothing from shoulders to toes

• Black on top, shoulders covered
• Black on bottom -- black tights under skirts, no shorts
• Closed-toed black shoes
• Hair secured away from face

Travel:

• Please plan now how your student is going to get to the concert. If you are unable to attend the concert with them, please plan a carpool so that they do not miss out on the unique experience of a live performance!

Congratulations to Mr. Fager's homeroom for donating the most food items to the Student Council Food Drive and earning the Spirit Award trophy!

Thank you, Classical families, for the many donations. We collected 3,351 items! The items were picked up by St. Joseph Food Program and were much appreciated.

December’s Wear-it-Wednesday will be held on Wednesday, December 18th. It’s pajama day!

As the weather turns colder, please be sure to send your student with the appropriate clothing for outdoor recess. We will continue to have all recesses outside unless it is raining or the wind chill falls below the safe levels. (See the below attachment for the wind chill parameters.) Students should have coats, gloves, hats, mittens, scarves, outdoor winter boots, and snow pants for recesses.

Winter Expectations:

Kindergarten-Grade 3:

• Once you're out, you're out.
• Be careful outside; be kind and be safe.
• Names on items help them get back to their owners if lost. Silver sharpies work well on the inside of hats and gloves.
• Outdoor winter boots and snow pants are required to play in the snow.

Grades 4 & 5:

• Once you're out, you're out.
• Keep coats, mittens, hats with you in the Forum while you eat.
• Label coats, mittens, hats; silver sharpies work well on the inside of items.
• Be careful outside; be kind and be safe.
• Outdoor winter boots and snow pants are not required but are a good idea if you want to play in the snow.

Middle School (lunch time only):

• Once you're out, you're out.
• Going outside is not required; students may stay in the Forum to do homework/socialize.
• If going outside, come prepared and wear hats, mittens, jackets.
• Be careful outside; be kind and be safe.

As the holiday season begins, families ask for suggestions for special treats or gifts to give teachers and other staff members. To make this easier for families, we have asked staff members to fill out a list of favorite treats, hobbies, and interests, etc. This list can be found at the Welcome Center where visitors sign in. Please no phone calls/emails to the school office regarding the lists. Thank you!

The Classical School Student Council is raising money for a new Gaga Ball Pit by hosting a Classroom Coin War! From December 2 - December 6, money will be collected over the lunch period. Coins earn points for your class, dollar bills subtract points from other classes. The class that earns the most points will get to play Gaga Ball with Mr. Winch!

All potential players MUST have an updated physical or alternate year physical form on file in the Classical School office prior to the first practice. You can pick up those forms in the Classical School office or the website: https://www.aasd.k12.wi.us/families/athletic_forms.

Students will not be able to practice unless the proper forms have been turned in to the Classical School office before practice starts.

The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors an Americanism essay each year. This year's theme is "What does America the Beautiful mean to me (regarding veterans and our military)?". This opportunity is available for grades 3-12. If your student would like to participate, please see the attachment below for more information.

Thank you to all volunteers who help out in and out of the classrooms each week. The time you volunteer is always appreciated but especially during this busy holiday month!

We will hold our preliminary Spelling Bee for Grades 4-8 on Monday, December 2nd at 1:30 pm in the Forum. The final Spelling Bee will be held on Tuesday, December 17th at 1:30 pm in the Forum. Parents are welcome to watch the final bee on the 17th.
