Connect to the Monthly Theme: Play
What forms of childhood play have lasted into your adulthood? What has enabled that? What makes you especially grateful for it?
Your assignment this month: Go on a playdate!
Ask your partner or friend to go on a “play date.” What makes up that play date is up to you. That’s half the fun! And half the exploration. By deciding together what to do, you might discover something entirely new about how your partner or friend defines play and fun.
While you need to figure it out for yourself, here are some ideas to spark your imagination: Get lost on purpose, axe throwing, a mini road trip, giving paddle boarding a try, hit the golf driving range, fly a kite, play cornhole, mini golf or better yet frisbee golf.

Notes From the Board
General Assembly Delegates Needed
UUCSJS can send three voting delegates to the UUA’s General Assembly. No one has yet volunteered to represent UUCSJS. If we send no delegates, we have no vote on decisions about how Unitarian Universalists should act. This year, there are two candidates for the presidency who have different ideas about what the UUA should do.
This year, GA is a 100% virtual event. It will occur online from June 23-27, 2021. Attending is very convenient. Delegates can attend dozens of interesting workshops, too.
If too few volunteers enroll, I will attend. I would much rather share the opportunity. Please, contact me, Kit Marlowe (krismarlowe@verizon.net), if you would like to represent the congregation.
Respectfully submitted,
Kit Marlowe
Board President

Another Opportunity for brief and painless participation in a Sunday service!
Have you read a poem lately that you were awed by, or do you have a favorite poem that you love? Maybe you write poetry yourself and would like to read it to an audience. Deb Dagavarian is putting together a Sunday service on August 22 on poetry.
You can pre-record yourself on your phone and Jess will put it together with others for the service. This is a great chance for someone who doesn’t enjoy speaking in front of others to participate in a service. You don’t even need to be a member of the congregation to do this! All ages are welcome.
And feel free to select more than one poem, especially if you wrote it yourself.
Please email or text Deb soon with the poems you'd like to perform: dagbonar4@gmail.com or 609-233-8470.
