For Advisors
Important Updates and Action Items
Halloween Pets
- Okay, this may not be an important action item for everyone, but I miss seeing the office assistant pet pictures, so I'm proposing a pet Halloween costume extravaganza in October.
- Please send me a photo of your pet(s) decked out for Halloween.
- I'll feature new pets each week in October with an opportunity for folks to vote for their favorite pictures.
- The pet costume that gets the most votes will win some sort of as-yet-to-be-determined prize.

UGA Alert Test - Update your contact information if needed

- Prior to the test next week, it is important that students, faculty, and staff review their contact information (phone numbers and email addresses) in the UGAAlert system to ensure their specific preferences for being notified are accurate. Contact information may be checked in the UGAAlert system at www.ugaalert.uga.edu.
In response to a question regarding sheltering for emergencies during COVID-19 the response below was provided by the PMAB: "We recognize that shelter areas may not allow all preventative measures to be practiced, and that the priority at that time is protection from the direct threat of severe weather. Any preventative measures that can be followed will help reduce risks during a severe weather event. Face coverings help prevent the release of respiratory droplets and should be worn at all times when sheltering. We recommend having some face coverings/masks available in the event someone does not have one to wear. In addition, physical distancing should be encouraged whenever possible, provided the size and occupancy limits of the area allow this to be done safely. To further reduce risks, conversation should be minimized to prevent the release of respiratory droplets."
Environmental Literacy and Degree Works
With thanks to Edie for supplying the 81 numbers, I emailed Curriculum Systems with a list of IDs of students who whose Environmental Literacy requirement should have been marked as complete, but who did not have the requirement checked in Degree Works. Curriculum's response is below. The good news is that until the problem is solved, they're happy to do manual corrections.
- We are aware of the issue that some students who have AP credit and/or transfer work are not having their Environmental Awareness requirement satisfied appropriately. We believe it is a timing issue with when the AP credit/transfer course was articulated. We have a meeting tomorrow afternoon to discuss. In the meantime, we have a process that will allow us to manually update the records to satisfy the Environmental Awareness requirements for the students. We can follow up when we have additional information.
- If you come across any additional students in this situation, please email them to us. You can direct the email to currsys@uga.edu
