A Message from Boyd Administration
This will be our last Boyd Beacon for the 2022-23 school year. It's hard to believe we are nearing the end of yet another wonderful school year! We are appreciative and excited to share each day with your child(ren). Thank you for making Boyd a remarkable place to be!
This month we will continue our end of the year assessments, known as NSCAS (3rd-5th grade) and MAP (K-2nd grade). It has been an absolute pleasure and delight to see the progress our Boyd Beavers have made this school year!
In this May edition of the Beacon, you will find many useful pieces of information:
- Staff Appreciation Week
- Attendance
- Field Day
- Boyd BBQ
- End of the Year Assessments
It is our hope the Boyd Beacon will continue to be a resource you may refer back to throughout the month! Please reach out to your child's teacher or administration for further support or assistance.

Attendance
Our goal is to continue to increase the percentage of students in attendance daily and we're on a roll! Thank you for making attendance a priority as we continue to Strive for 95!
- Strive for 95 is having less than 9 absences the entire school year (excused or unexcused).
- Did you know that there are 405 minutes in an elementary school day? If your child is late to school or leave early, they are missing minutes of instruction. Good attendance prepares your child to excel in future grades.
Arrival Procedures
Arrival Procedures
- The school day begins at 8:50 AM. Students who enter the building at 8:50 AM or later will need to go to the office for a tardy pass. Minutes count!
- There is no supervision outside of the school building before 8:30 AM.
- The front entrance doors to the building will open at 8:30 AM.
- Students are to wait in their car or with their parent/guardian before the doors open. Once the main door is opened, your child may enter the building to go to class or gather breakfast first and then walk to class to eat breakfast.
- Should you need to enter past the office, all parties must check in at the office and receive a visitors pass.
Drop Off/Pick Up
Safety is our priority and learning is our passion! Please refer to the above map for arrival and dismissal procedures previously sent out in the Boyd Beacon.
- Parents/guardians who drop off and pick up by car will drive through the pick-up/drop off loading zone in front of the school, as marked by arrows on the map in yellow.
- The red arrows on the map are designated as a continuous flow of traffic. This is a no loading zone to ensure the safety for our students, staff and families. Please refrain from loading in the continuous flow of traffic (middle lane) to ensure a smooth dismissal process.
MAP
These assessments provide valuable information regarding a student’s performance beyond grade level standards. Additionally, it will help teachers identify the unique instructional needs of each student, while monitoring the growth made over the course of the school year. Each student will be assigned a RIT score to help determine a student’s performance on the assessment.
Please discuss with your student the importance of taking their time, working hard and getting plenty of rest!
