Mission Statement
St. John's Lutheran School exists to educate each child in a Christ-centered environment for a life of service to God and man.
Devotion by Pastor Craig Muhlbach
“The body that is sown is perishable; it is raise imperishable” (1Cor. 15:42).
“Titanic” was on TV again the other night. The man who designed the Titanic was convinced he
had a ship that could not sink. He had arranged many sealed compartments into the ship so
that even if one compartment was flooded, the other compartments would keep the ship afloat.
But the designer of the Titanic did not think about what would happen if several of the
compartments were flooded at the same time. Not to mention how iron rivets react in icy water.
He did not think that was possible until an iceberg ripped a hole through several of the sealed
compartments.
What man can’t do, God can do. We can’t make anything on this earth last forever because
God has said that everything here will perish, fall apart, and be destroyed. Even our bodies are
perishable. We get sick or hurt. Sometimes we have a little fever or one of our teeth has a
cavity. Other times people have an illness like cancer that can cause their bodies to stop
working. All of us have perishable bodies while we live on earth.
But God has made this promise about the body of every believer in heaven: the body that is
sown is perishable; it is raised imperishable.” Though we don’t’ know how our bodies will
change, this is one promise God does make clear to us: Our bodies will no longer fall apart, get
hurt, get sick, or be affected by anything that will make them not work perfectly.
People live for a certain number of years because their bodies are perishable. The reason we
will never have to face sickness, injury, or dying in heaven is because God will change our
bodies so that they are imperishable
What people can’t do when they promise to make something indestructible, God can do. When
all the perishable things of this world have perished, God will make us imperishable. What a
wonderful new way of life we have to look forward to.
