If your student is attending Run Club, please make sure they have breakfast prior to arriving at school. Also, please make sure you arrive at 7:20, so the students have enough time to get in a good run.

Remember, Wednesday, Oct. 23rd is the first LTISD Early Release of the year. We will serve lunch in the classrooms, but we will not have guests for lunch that day. Also, there is no Extended Care or Enrichment Classes, so please make sure to update your students' dismissal in Smart Tag.

Learning happens every day at our school. An important skill for learning is focusing attention. When we focus our attention we use our ears, our eyes, and our brain! This week, put on your attent-o-scopes and notice how they help you listen and learn.

Please help us honor our nations' veterans by telling us about your own. Copies will come home with students next week, or you can print your by clicking the image above.

Are you headed to the grocery store today? Be sure to save those plastic bags! We are striving to help our school become a greener campus and partnering with Ridwell once again for a plastic film drive. Please hold on to your air pillows (the air filled plastic bags that come in shipping boxes), grocery bags, ziploc bags, bread bags, shipping envelopes, bubble wrap, produce bags, dry cleaning bags, outer bags (like the ones that toilet paper and paper towels come in), and cereal bags. In a week or two, we will have a box set up in the front foyer of the school for plastic bags (I will send out a notice when its ready).

We can make a huge difference by keeping all this out of our landfills! Ridwell has teamed up with Trex to turn all this plastic film into high performance composite decking.

Serene Hills will receive a free plastic film pickups from January-June with the 10 new sign ups for residential services and a field trip to their facility with 20 new sign ups! Pedernales Electric Cooperative invests in an array of educational programs to help brighten classrooms and communities across the Texas Hill Country. For a second school year, PEC will host a Teacher Spotlight Award to recognize the incredible work teachers do in their classrooms and communities. PEC is accepting nominations for the Teacher Spotlight Award through October 25 and encourages members to fill out the form online. Please feel free to share this with your community to recognize your hardworking educators.

From the nominations received, PEC will select teachers from across the co-op’s service territory to receive awards. This round’s winners will be announced in November and PEC will visit the teachers at their schools to present them with a thank-you basket of resources and materials to support classroom learning.

Attention LTISD Parents and Guardians,

The Discovery Program, otherwise known as Gifted and Talented, is now accepting parent referrals for GT Screening via this google form.

Transfer students, who were already identified as GT coming from their previous district, should submit their Google form as soon as possible, as the transfer student screening will be set within 30 days of the first day of school. Parents should send proof of their child's selection/participation in the previous GT program directly to the campus GT coordinator. See below for a campus contact list.

Parents can submit referrals for screening up until the end of the first 9 weeks, by October 18, 2024. Students in Grades 1-5 will be tested during the 2nd 9 weeks of instruction. If the referral and permission forms are not submitted by the deadline, the student will have to wait until next year's screening opportunity, as the spring screening session is only for students moving in new to the district after the fall testing window is closed.

Kindergarten students can be referred for GT testing beginning in January 2025. More details will be shared regarding this process at the end of the first semester.

The forms and further information about the program can be found here. A virtual Discovery Parent Information Meeting will be held September 27th at 11:30 AM.

Once the request is submitted through the Google form, the campus GT coordinator will contact parents via email after October 18th to share pertinent information.
