SEL Second Step Program
Dear Parents,
This Week’s lesson will continue to focus on Conflict Resolution. Your child will evaluate solutions to interpersonal problems by thinking about the problem from each person’s point of view. They will reflect on whether a solution to an interpersonal problem worked for everyone involved. They will think through different ways to resolve a conflict and choose the best solution. Your child will practice using non-blaming language to resolve conflicts. They will also learn how to describe a conflict in a non-judgmental way by avoiding blaming language.
Try This at Home:
Ask your child to give you an example of non-blaming, respectful communication. Brainstorm with them to think of a time in your household when non-blaming language could have been helpful, and work on a plan for how to use respectful communication in the future.
