SAT Prep Summer 2024 Application
Is your child looking to improve their SAT scores? Are they nervous about sitting for the exam for the first time next year? Consider enrolling them in a comprehensive SAT Prep Course. College Passport at University Settlement is excited to provide ALL high school students with a FREE SAT Program during the summer!
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed on the SAT exam. The course covers all sections of the exam, including reading and math, and includes practice tests and personalized feedback to help students identify areas that need improvement. With the guidance of experienced instructors, students will learn test-taking strategies, time management skills, and how to approach different types of questions. By completing this SAT Prep Course, students will be better prepared for the exam and increase their chances of achieving desired scores.
The course will run for five weeks from July 9th and will be held Tuesdays from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.

Students are required to upload or email their transcripts. Metro cards and snacks will be provided.

May PTA Meeting
Please note that Nominations are still open to elect MECA HS PTA Executive Board officers. Elections will be during the PTA General Meeting on May 15th, 2024. EVERY parent or guardian is eligible to vote!
Please fill-out the MECA HS PTA Nomination Form to nominate yourself or someone else. We will also be taking nominations during the meeting.

End of Year Trips
Great Adventure
Our end of year trip to Six Flags Great Adventure is scheduled for May 31, 2024. 9th, 10th and 11th grade students with no suspensions, no classroom removals and who are passing all core classes (Math, Science, English and Social Studies) will be able to attend.
Cost is $40 per student.
The bus will leave MECA at 8:00 am (no exceptions) and will leave Six Flags at 6:00 pm. Tickets are first come, first Go!
Students should pick up permission slips from Ms. Ingram ASAP during lunch or advisory only.
Permission slips and payments will be due no later than May 23rd to Ms. Ingram During Lunch or Advisory only.
Grad Night at Great Adventure
MECA Seniors are invited to GRAD NIGHT at Six Flags on June 7, 2024! This is a trip for only seniors with no suspensions. There are 50 tickets and the cost is $40 per student.
The bus will depart from MECA at 3:00 pm on the June 7th and leave Six Flags at 12:00 midnight.
Tickets are first come first go! Please pick up permission slips from Ms. Ingram ASAP Lunch or Senior Seminar only.

MECA's Priorities
Priority #1 All students will learn to read well By June 2024 pass rates for ELL students on the NYS ELA Regents exam will increase 10 points from 80% to 90%
Priority #2 All students are physically & emotionally safe By June 2024 Hispanic female students will indicate they are invited to participate in collaborative conflict resolution by 15 points from 60% to 75% as measured by favorable responses on the NYC School Survey
Priority #3 All students have a high quality academic experience By June 2024 students with disabilities' pass rate on the Alg I Regents exam will increase from 58% to 65%
Priority #4 All students graduate college & career ready By June 2024 the number of students who are eligible for a CTE endorsed diploma will increase by 17, from to 8 to 25 students as measured by pass rates on the Adobe Photoshop Certification exam
Priority #5 All schools are inclusive & responsive to parents By June 2024 favorable responses regarding teacher initiated contact concerning student performance will increase by 16 points, from 69% to 85% as measured by NYC School Survey responses
