Week 33
It was a wet and rainy week at MUMS and around Addison County all together! We weathered the rain well and spent lots of days inside for recess and also for athletic practices. We look forward to the warmer and dryer weather in the coming week!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of the Staff Appreciation treats this week! We felt so cared for by our community and are grateful that you share your children with us everyday!
Have a great weekend!
Best,
Michaela

Tiger Paws: Celebrating Our Students and the IB Leaner Profile
This fall, a group of MUMS staff came together to create Tiger Paws, a school-wide way to recognize many of our students demonstrating aspects of our IB Learner Profile in their daily actions at school. These traits “go beyond academic success. They imply a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them.” (ibo.org) Since October, SO MANY of our students have been “caught in the act” of being brave, thinking deeply, showing genuine curiosity, and expressing concern for others, to name a few. Nominated students are publicly recognized over the loudspeaker and at assemblies, and are eligible to receive a range of prizes. (Two students’ tickets are below.) Congratulations to our many students who have received Tiger Paws already! MUMS staff members look forward to giving more before the end of the year!

Panorama Survey
May 9th, 2025
We know that social emotional learning (SEL) is crucial for our students’ success in school and in life, so across ACSD we are working on systems to support strong SEL teaching and learning in our schools. As part of that work, we are using Panorama surveys, research-backed SEL measurement tools. We will use the data we collect with this assessment to reflect on student learning and strengthen our programs and instruction to help all students succeed.
ACSD students have been taking this survey for 2 years now, and we are actively using the data at the school and district level. At MUMS, it helps us to know both how students are doing as well as respond with whole class, grade, and individual supports as needed.
This survey will be given to students in grades 3-12 the week of May 19th. The survey asks students to self-reflect on skills related to self-management, self-awareness, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness. We ask that all students participate, because their feedback provides valuable insights to help us improve and adapt. K-2 students do not participate directly in the survey. Instead, K-2 teachers complete an SEL Teacher Perception checklist for each student.
Please use this link if you wish to opt your child out of taking the survey. Thank you in advance for supporting this important work. If you have any questions please contact Michaela Wisell at 382-1600 or mwisell@acsdvt.org.
Teacher & Staff Appreciation and Nominations
Our teachers and staff are amazing! At ACSD, we turn Teacher Appreciation Week into Teacher & Staff Appreciation Month. You can help! Share an appreciation HERE.
Parents ~ Ask your child if a teacher or grown-up has done something to make their school day better. Open the form and fill it out together or share something you have appreciated!
Students ~ ALL appreciations matter...but hearing your words is especially meaningful!
The form will be open all month. You can also nominate our ACSD Teacher & Staff of the Year awards (presented at our August 2025 staff Welcome Back week)!
K-12 EducationCommunityForum~May10th

MUMS Tiger Concert Closet
Attention, MUMS band and choir families: Our MUMS Tiger Concert Closet is up and running! Thank you to those of you who donated gently used black tops, bottoms and dress shoes for our students to borrow for all upcoming concerts. Another special thank you goes to Junebug, who donated a LOT of brand-new clothing as well as fixtures to make our initiative a success. As you know, the MUMS spring concert is Tuesday, May 13 at MUHS. In preparation for this event, the Tiger Concert Closet will be open for students and/or their families to browse and borrow concert clothing and shoes on Thursday, May 8 and Monday, May 12 from 3:30-5:00 pm in the MUMS lobby. If neither of these times works for you, please email etothsears@gmail.com to arrange another time for you to browse the closet. It's here for all of us! - If you send a student to school with an early dismissal note or bus note they should bring them the office before TA.
- All students taking a bus to another place other than home need a bus note from their caregiver. This note needs to be stamped/signed by one of our Administrative Assistant's in the front office. Students will not be allowed to ride a bus to another location without a note from home that is stamped/signed by the office.
