PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Happy New Year! We hope that you and your families had a relaxing break, but just in case you needed more time, Mother Nature decided to grant us two snow days! With these 2 snow days our REMOTE makeup days are scheduled for February 14th and April 17th. More information will be coming out soon in regards to what these days look like.
At the end of December we had an amazing PBIS assembly where we recognized our PBIS Character award students, engaged in a holiday sing along, Santa visited with crafts for all students, and the teachers performed in a Masked Singer competition…needless to say Olaf was the winner!
As we look forward to January we have our middle of the year benchmark assessments and report cards. If at any time you have questions or concerns, please reach out to any of us and we will be here to support.

HEALTHY HABITS & FRIENDLY REMINDERS
- Cold weather is coming our way and we ask that parents be sure to send children to school properly dressed for outside recess. We will have school recess when the temperature is 28 degrees (feels like) or above.
- Remind your child to cover their mouth when they sneeze or cough.
- Remind your child to do their part by keeping themselves and school bathrooms clean and germ free!
NOTES FROM THE NURSE
With the weather turning colder, the cold and flu season is in full swing. With the cold
and flu season, there come many questions from parents about when their child should
come to school and when they should keep them at home. Below are guidelines to use to
help answer those questions.
- If your child complains of not feeling well in the morning, check their temperature. If the child has a temperature of 100.5 or higher, he/she should not be sent to school. The child must be without a fever for 24 hours without the use of Tylenol or Motrin (Ibuprofen) before returning to school. Also, a child that has been vomiting or has had episodes of diarrhea within the past 24 hours should remain at home to rest
- When your child has symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose, cough or sore throat, many times an over the counter medication will help them feel more comfortable during the school day. The best choices are cold medicines that can be given in the morning before school and last the entire day. Don’t forget to read the dosage directions carefully before you give your child any medication. If there is ever a question about how much medicine to give your child do not hesitate to contact your family doctor. Please remember that the school does not have cold medicine available at school to administer to students. This must be given at home.
- If your child has a cough and is having a hard time breathing or controlling the cough, it is recommended for them to remain home until this is under control. Cough drops can only be brought to school with a note from a parent or guardian. The health room does not have cough drops to give to students.
You know your child best and know when they are truly sick. With this information
hopefully everyone can enjoy a healthier winter.
