Teacher Collaboration: When Belief Systems Collide
The provided article below from "Edutopia", by author ELENA AGUILAR, highlights an important point to address with your teams during your collaborative meetings. Remember, according to John Hattie, the single biggest impact and effect size on student learning happens when professional educators get together and discuss barriers to learning and solutions to those barriers (PLC Teams, Collaborative Teams, Data Teams etc.). Please check out the article at the bottom and reflect on your personal educational philosophy, your perceived PLC or Collaborative Team's educational philosophies, and plan to bring up this article and related topics in your collaborative team meetings so that our collaborative teams are benefited by and not derailed when, inevitably, team disagreement occurs. Don't let conflict or the threat of potential conflict deter your teams from having tough conversations around student learning; use some of these tips and strategies this article provides to grow and learn from that conflict. Conflict is natural and can be a great thing for our school culture and our kids learning if utilized properly to professionally challenge one another's thinking and practice.
Thanks for all you do.
