Dear Parent or Guardian,
Your child has been tested using the Acadience Reading assessment. The purpose of Acadience Reading is to monitor your child's development in reading, to identify students who need additional help, and to guide the teacher's classroom instruction. Acadience Reading should not be used to grade a child. Acadience Reading consists of several brief tests that are used as indicators of critical skills that students need to master in order to become good readers. Much like measuring a child's height and weight provides an indicator of that child's overall growth, each Acadience test provides an indicator of how well a child is doing in learning a particular early reading skill. The scores tell us whether a child is likely to be "on track" for learning to read, or whether that child may need some additional help in learning important reading skills.

Congrats Lego League Explore Robotics 2nd & 3rd Grade Team!
The Kirby Builders team was awarded the "Challenge Solution" Award at the Sycamore MachBusters Robotics Festival. This award is given to the team that showed excellent problem-solving skills to create an innovative and helpful solution to the challenge.
Clothing Donations Needed
Donations Needed of gently worn clothing in the nurseβs office for students needing a change of clothes during the school day. Sizes 6 - 12 years, pants and long sleeve shirts, are greatly needed at this time.

Join us for an insightful training session organized by the Maple Dale PTO on the Sycamore's new Learning Management System, Canvas, as presented by Chris Gutermuth. This session is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate Canvas effectively, ensuring you stay well-informed about your child's academic journey. Learn how to track progress, access assignments, and stay connected with teachers. Your active participation in this training will not only enhance your understanding of the educational tools at your disposal but also foster a collaborative partnership between home and school.

Hello Montgomery Families,
Have you ever considered being more active with PTO but arenβt sure where to start? Are you afraid youβll sign up for more than you bargained for? Please come to our next General PTO Meeting on March 14 where we will share more about the different opportunities to volunteer with the PTO, covering everything from Executive Board positions to volunteering for a one-time event! We will also be reviewing and voting on our updated bylaws at that meeting. As always, pizza and childcare will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there and remember there is NO COMMITMENT and NO PRESSURE, just a chance to learn more!
The PTO is also looking forward to Cultural Heritage Night! We are fortunate to have such a diverse student body at Montgomery and we are looking for families who are willing to share more about their culture. We are asking that any families interested and willing to provide information or food at a booth during Cultural Heritage Night on April 5, 2024 sign up to make this a memorable event! We will be holding an informational Zoom session in February to provide more details about the event and to answer any questions!

SOLAR ECLIPSE β Monday, April 8 there will be no school to allow students and families to enjoy the Solar Eclipse which will be visible in our area all afternoon with maximum viewing at 3:09pm!

New SAC members needed
SAC (Sycamore Advisory Commission) is currently seeking new members! SAC comprises approximately 32 members representing various facets of our community, including teachers, administrative staff, parents, students, and city council members. Our collective purpose is to provide support and counsel to the Board of Education and school administration.
Our main focus revolves around conducting research projects on diverse topics recommended by the administration and the Board of Education. We strive to foster open communication and dialogue between the community and the district.
As we embark on the next term, 2024-25, we invite interested individuals to apply for membership. The online application form is now live and accessible at: Application Form
