The official digital newsletter of La Porte ISD
Greetings, La Porte ISD Family. Today is a great day to be a Bulldog!
The 2023-24 school year is just weeks away from wrapping up. It has been a wonderful year in La Porte ISD, and I want you to join me in thanking our dedicated parents and teachers, who have helped assure that our students achieve excellence in everything they do.
STAAR exams continue this week, and I have confidence that everyone is prepared to do their very best. As I have mentioned many times before, I am grateful to everyone who is committed to ensuring excellence among our children in academics and other activities, and I wish you great success as you embark on the challenges ahead.
Meanwhile, I am looking forward to the end-of-year performances and ceremonies that provide us the opportunity to witness how great our students really are. I hope you join me.
Superintendent Shout-outs
- This past week, 109 La Porte High School students were inducted to the National Honor Society. I join the entire district in letting you know that we are extremely proud of you!
- Speaking of the National Honor Society, Heritage Elementary NHS students this weekend performed service to their school in cleaning the Brian Fournier Memorial Garden on their campus. It warms my heart to see our youngest generation putting such a high value of service to others.
- Shout-out to our Bulldogs and Lady Dawgs Track & Field teams. In keeping with the La Porte legacy, several student-athletes advanced to the UIL Regionals. We're still waiting to see whether we have a State qualifier. Congratulations to all!
- Former four-time state dive qualifier Allen Bottego is the latest Bulldog to go on and do great things. An outstanding season as a member of the Texas A&M Swim & Dive Team landed Allen on the All Southeast Conference Second Team. Congratulations!
- The final tally is in, and La Porte FFA students earned $209,150 at the La Porte Livestock Auction earlier this month. This is the result of countless hours of hard work and dedication. Congratulations, FFA students, parents and sponsors!
- Finally, a mega shout-out to the La Porte Education Foundation. This past week they surprised several teachers with grants for some extras in the classroom. I encourage you to support the Foundation in whatever way you can to help them continue their efforts in supporting La Porte ISD classrooms.
Thank you for all that you do. I hope you have a great week!
With La Porte pride,
Walter Jackson, Ed.D.

La Porte High School inducts 109 students to NHS
La Porte High School on April 17 celebrated the induction of 109 new members to the National Honor Society. The National Honor Society enshrines four pillars at its heart: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. More than mere badges of honor for NHS members, these principles are transformative keys that unlock potential, enhancing every student’s educational journey, and ultimately empowering them to make profound, enduring contributions to our world, according to the organization’s website. Thank you to NHS sponsor Jennifer Lopez. Click here to see the full list of inductees.
