Attendance Line 913-993-2388
Per district policy, parents are required to notify the school to report a student's absence in a timely manner. Please report your student's absence or late arrival to the school office by 8:30am, in one of these ways:
- 24-hour attendance line - 913-993-2388
- Online via Skyward (new this year!)
- click here for directions on how to submit an absence online from a desktop
- click here for directions on how to submit an absence from the Skyward app
Please do not call the office main line to report an absence. By leaving a voicemail on the attendance line, this keeps our main line open for those who need to speak with office staff.
If you have already emailed your student's teacher about an absence, that info doesn't always make it to the office so please still report the absence in one of the two ways listed above.
BA Running Club
Parents and Students,
Our second year of Running Club will be starting soon! Getting exercise in the morning will have many benefits to our kids and school, which will include: goal setting, increased attention in class, positive relationships with peers, and building confidence. Details are below on what to expect. Please let me know if you have any questions. Let’s all have a great school year!

DAYS OF THE WEEK
â—Ź We will start the first full week on Monday, August 19th, 2024.
â—Ź K, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grades will go on Mondays and Tuesdays.
â—Ź 4th, 5th, & 6th grades will go on Thursdays and Fridays.
â—Ź No Wednesdays for Running Club.
TIME & LOCATION
â—Ź 7:50 - 8:05am in the gym
RULES
● Breakfast is the first priority. Kids will not be able to leave Running Club to go to breakfast. We don’t want kids being late to class at 8:10am.
â—Ź Kids can come into the gym to run or walk anytime between 7:50-8:05am.
â—Ź There will be a designated spot for book bags and water bottles.
â—Ź The school behavior rubric still applies. Kids will be sent out of the gym for anything other than minor behavior problems.
â—‹ 1st offense = Verbal warning for minor behaviors but can keep running.
â—‹ 2nd offense = Miss the next day.
â—‹ 3rd offense = Out for the quarter and parents will be contacted.
â—Ź Kids will grab a popsicle stick for every lap they complete. When finished, they will record their laps to Coach Klumpe.
MILE CLUB (1 lap = .05 mile / 20 laps = 1 mile)
● Student’s mileage will be carried over each school year to help them achieve their goals. We will recognize students at our Trailblazer of the Quarter assemblies for their dedication and hard work. ○ 5 Miles = Free Shoelaces
â—‹ 10 Miles = White Shirt
â—‹ 20 Miles = Grey Shirt
â—‹ 30 Miles = Navy Shirt

New Gaga Ball Pit
Broken Arrow students will soon enjoy a brand new GaGa Ball Pit thanks to J.J. McKibbin, a member of Boy Scout Troop 394 in Shawnee. Members of the troop (pictured above) worked with J.J. to help bring his Eagle scout project to completion last weekend.
Mr. Klumpe's 3rd-6th grade PE classes spent class time this week learning the rules & etiquette of Gaga Ball. Students can start playing at recess next week. Thank you to J.J. and Troop 394!
