Welcome To Week #24
Diamond Bar High School and the Walnut Valley Unified School District are proud to recognize Black History Month as we continue to provide our organization with resources to celebrate diversity while building equitable and inclusive practices for our community.
Dear Brahma Family,
On Saturday, the Diamond Bar community gathered at DBHS for the Diamond Bar Chinese American Association’s (DBCAA) Lunar New Year Celebration. The event featured performances from numerous local groups, delicious food, and a variety of activities for all attendees. During the celebration, the DBCAA generously donated $10,000 to our STEM program, with $6,500 supporting our Robotics Team and $2,500 benefiting our Dronescape Team.
Congratulations to our Girls’ Water Polo team on great season, which came to a close on Friday with a heartbreaking one-point loss to the Hemet Bulldogs in the second round of the CIF playoffs. Meanwhile, our Girls’ Basketball team will begin their playoff journey on Thursday evening in San Juan Capistrano, facing off against the Tartans from St. Margaret’s Episcopal School. Go Brahmas!
Our performing arts programs were busy over the weekend. On Saturday, after leading our Drumline in performances at the Lunar New Year Celebration, Band Director Mr. Steve Acciani joined Instructional Dean Dr. Nicolle Flores to present a conference session on “Partnering for Success” at the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Association’s (SCSBOA) Professional Development Conference in Anaheim. Numerous Brahmas were also selected to perform at the conference in SCSBOA’s All Southern High School Honor Band, Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble on Saturday and Sunday. Our Drama Program also welcomed thespians from several other high schools to the DBHS theater for a special festival called Places: Play In A Day Fest. Additionally, on Saturday at Chino Hills High School, our Dance Team dominated the competition, sweeping nearly every category and taking home the Grand Champion Award. Congratulations to all of our outstanding student performers, directors, and coaches!
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
David Hong
